    Alright...I'll bite.

Without buy a taurus 92(still considering a pt101)...what years and model Beretta 92's had the frame mounted safeties?...did they ever make .40 cal with a frame safety?

I would LOVE to have a 92 and a 96 but I cant reach the dadgum safeties all the way up there on the frame!

    God bless

That's why you carry with the hammer down and safety off.

Aww, my dad was CG during the war. That big one, back in the 40s, whatever it was called. This makes my eyes all sweaty.

The original Series 92 (no letter after the 92) had frame mounted safeties. Beretta also made a couple of special edition 92s with frame mounted safeties, but those are pure collectors items although if you want to spend $2000 for a rare pistol and carry it, that is your business. :D

The original, this was a pistol that Beretta built and took to Brazil as a demo before setting up production there. A few copies were made in Brazil before selling the plant to Taurus. This is actually the second version of the "92" as the first had a "step sided" slide. All following 92s had the straight side slides.

As for the Series 96 (.40S&W) I don't believe they ever made a frame mounted safety version.

I had a frame mounted 96 in the mid to late nineties. I got it when working at a large gunstore in MI. It was similar to the Billennium model in stmoors post but had a locking nut barrel bushing and dovetail front sights it also had the same front and rear frame checkering and the similar very beefy slide. Oh, and it had extended base pads also.

I know Beretta made/makes many "special edition" pistols, so it doesn't surprise me to learn they did have a special 96 with the frame mounted safety. Thanks!!! :yesway:

I would have been either a combat or a stock. if SA/DA it was a combat, if SA it was a stock. They had the equivalent of a Brig "D" slide with, as you note, a conical bushing and the locking retainer nut.

They would have looked like this:

Here is my Beretta 92 FS Compact 13 shot. It has walnut grips. I bought it in 1991 and it was manufactured in Italy in 1988. My wife knows that if anything ever happens to me she can sell my gun collection, but this one stays with her. It was the first gun I ever bought. Thanks for posting all of the great looking 92's. I have looked on Youtube and I have only seen one video that has this exact gun and it is in Spanish.
