Thanks again U.S. Patriot for posting the picture of your gun. It made me order the Hogue grip for my M9 and I love it!:rockwoot:

I have to say that during my time in the Army I was never a fan of the 92 but will say that it is one hell of a gun just not right for me. That being said though all of those are really sweet.

Have to ad my Franken-92 to the thread. Got the frame from stmoore, added an M9 slide, new from Beretta stainless barrel, couple of parts from CDNN, new from Beretta recoil spring and barrel drop block, mags from who knows where, and a few other parts I found laying around.

Range report on this baby, thanks to my future son-in-law who is in the Air Force and plays with his M9 more than I can even think about affording ammo, at 25 yards he emptied the mag into the center of the target leaving one ragged hole. Then he turned to me and said "boring"!!! I was too amazed to respond.

I have a 92S. It was the fore runner of the SB and it had the Walther safety on the slide, but with the old frame with the mag release on the bottom of the left grip. The 92SB came before the 92F and is practically the same, with the mag release in the Luger position, behind the trigger guard. It also had the firing pin block.

A little deviation from the 92FS designator of the title, but figured this was ok to put here. Model 92 First Series

Recently acquired this and trying to find out some info without much success. Not much in the Blue Book of Gun Values, nor online really. No mention of a nickel model anywhere. Date code of AH puts this as 1981 manufacture according to Beretta's site.

Anyone have any input I'd appreciate it. Can the nickel be safely polished or best to leave it as is?

As far as I know, Beretta only made a handful, if that many in nickel, and I believe they were the 92FS. Those were display units only and if any did get out it would be because someone on the inside knew someone who knew someone... ;)

Yours is the original second version 92 (step side 92 was first) and again, as far as I know none were nickel plated.

I do know that Beretta has done several one-offs of various models, but I seriously doubt the original was done that way.

About polishing the nickel, I have used regular car-wax with good results.

You just get that from a seller on Gunbroker? I saw it there and was hoping that the seller would have had more info as to where it really came from.

Also wonder why so many of the early 92 and 92S had the pachmayr grips. I have a couple of the early models and have had no luck trying to find the original Beretta grips.

Regardless as to it's authenticity, it looks like a really nice pistol!!!!
