Edit: Just got a batch of approvals. New average: 94 days.

Looking at approval times over the past three months, our average NFA efile approval time dropped from seven months to five months. We also just had an efile form 4 come back in 87 days and a paper form 4 come back in 62 days.

I’m hoping this trend continues in our favor.

We have one outlier from Jan 15th and one from Feb 7th. The rest are coming back pretty quickly.

A little good news in the NFA world. Just sharing.

Have submissions declined substantially since Biden took office?
Nope. NFA submissions outside of an event (like brace registration) are pretty constant. People don't stockpile suppressors like ammo in an artificially inflated demand market.

Wonder how much it costs to process one if these beyond the revenue generated by the $200 tax stamp... in the name of safety?

The revenue is meaningless to them. In 1934, $200 was a prohibition. Now it's an inconvenience at best.

I doubt the cost is more than a few minutes of a moderately-paid ATF worker's time.

Understood, but with standard govt efficiency, I figured it costs them much more than $200 per app, but maybe not. That said, I'm thankful that the law didn't call for inflation adjustment on the tax.
