    In my lair
I finally got that stuck pin out. No matter how many times I tried to press it, it just wasn't going to budge. It was bending my rods first.

I drilled it out, first with a 1/8 then a 5/32 and the used a steel punch from Menards and beat the crap out of it. It finally came out. I think the pin hole needs to be cleaned out but is definitely useable.

If this had been our plastic and aluminum princess, something would have bent when I took out big hammer. Love the AK because its fun to build and therapeutic to hammer when it won't budge.

Is this the 'princess' you had in mind?

any one know where i can find bullet guides for a milled m70/ m64 kit? i need two of them

If they're anything like saiga 7.62 round trunion bullet guides, i had some with me that day and would have given them to you. Seriously though if they are the same i'll mail you one. It's too late for me to look it up and check.

I didn't get a chance to check it out when it was done, was that trigger worth the hassle/sore junk? How does it compare to a Tapco?

I've got to admit the trigger was really nice. I don't know if you got to feel dsgnr81's, but he polished the crap out of it and they felt very similar side by side with no adjustments on the RA. The difference is all the adjustments that you get with the other. Another member, that i was surprised wasn't there, showed me a tapco mod where he welded onto the bottom of the trigger to lessen the take up. The principle was similar to the Red Star trigger, only with his you had to file it down to get it where you wanted it instead of adjusting an allen screw. The only reason the Red star was a PITA was it didn't have the extra lobe like a double hook trigger (and the one tapco uses) to bend the spring legs behind and i didn't have zip ties i had some trash bag ties. It was like trying to set a greasy hair triggered mousetrap. Zip ties would have made it easier and a lot less bloody. Which means it would be a lot less uncomfortable for Doggy daddy.

I'll get to find out how it shoots this morning. I don't think I can compare it to a Tapco. I thought my old trigger group WAS a Tapco for 922r compliance, but I guess it wasn't. Without having fired the gun, I can definitely say that the new trigger feels great. I'm hoping that all the slap will be gone when I go to fire it.

Looking forward to having a "normal" sight picture too, thanks to Clay straightening my badly canted front sight! By moving my front post as far to the right as it would go, and moving my rear Tech Sight as far to the left as it would go, it would hit POA, but it was odd looking for sure. Ever get behind a vehicle on the road that's obviously been wrecked, and it looks like the car/truck is "crooked" even though it's going straight down the road? It was kinda like that... :):

Well, I have good news and bad news... Good news is, the sight picture is great, and it's sighted in dead on at 50 yards. Also, the first 2 mags and a half or so were flawless with NO trigger slap whatsoever! :rockwoot:

Now for the bad news... after the first 2 mags and a half, things went south with the trigger. I'll take some pics tomorrow, but I'm hoping it just is going to need a little adjusting with the allen screws. It seems to be a reset problem. When the hammer is cocked fully back, pulling the trigger doesn't release it. However, if I wiggle it only slightly, it "uncatches" and then pulling the trigger allows it to function normally. I'll play around with it in the morning and if adjusting it doesn't take care of it, I'll put up pics and/or video for those who are wiser about such things than me. :)

We didn't loctite the screws as the trigger hadn't been adjusted. It was left at it's stock setting. I'm willing to bet some of the screws started to move changing the dynamics of the trigger.

The allen screws, right? That's what I was thinking. I forgot all about the loctite. I'll fiddle with the adjustment and if I get it working, then I'll loctite them. I still may post a pic to make sure the spring ends didn't wind up where they shouldn't be.
