I am looking at buying a bersa 380 for home protection and maybe eventually as a carry. But i would really like to try one first.I have heard mixed reviews and would like to know what some owners think of their purchase.

Don't personally own one, but I know several people who do, and we sell a BUNCH of them. They are generally well put together, reliable, and easy shooting pistols. Good value for the money.

I am surprised you have seen mixed comments. Everyone seems to laud the Bersa Thunder 380. I have one and have owned a couple opthers, all quality and the current one I have is scary, one hole at 10 yards" accurate. And as shooter521 said, real good value.

My only issue is mags are a little pricey but this is not a gun you need a dozen mags for.

If you're near Lafayette you can rent one at Applied Ballistics on Olympia Dr.

I just rented it for a friend a week ago.

    Great Pistol

I have a Bersa Thunder 380. I have had it for five years. I have
fired hundreds of rounds through it, with NO issues. It is accurate,
and absolutely reliable. I could have paid much more than I did for
it, and would still think I got a great buy.
The entire line of Bersa pistols, are excellent.

pretty nice. i took my fiancee to go pick her a home defense pistol that she liked and what she was comfortable with, lo n behold she picks a bersa thunder 380. she likes it. the only problem i have wit it is that ammo is more expensive.

I had one, it was a great little shooter. Sold it. Then regretted it. So I bought another one. I won't be selling this one. Good for summer CC.

My buddy had one that I loved to shoot. It was very accurate, but if I wasn't careful I would pinch the skin between my thumb and finger. I'd definitely try one out before buying if you have the chance.

I am looking at the Bersa .380. Would like to try one out before I buy as well. The one I looked at today was $309, NIB, seemed a great price and the two tone was bea-utiful!!!

The other I am looking at is the two tone Walther PK 380.

I have never heard anything bad about the Bersa 380. In fact I've had 2 of them. The only reason I got rid of them was to fund something else. They are very dependable and accurate.

I love em. This was the first gun I had ever shot. My dad carried it as an off duty gun when I was a kid. I loved how it shot.

I have had a couple Bersa .380s and my friend has had a couple. They have all been very reliable and also surprisingly accurate. Another .380 you might want to consider is the CZ 83. They can be had at surplus prices on Gunbroker and other places. They are very similar to the Bersa but with better mag capacity and the ability to carry cocked and locked or hammer down on a loaded chamber with equal safety. Good luck on your search and enjoy your new shooter.

I've owned 3 and all were accurate and I never had a problem with them. I like the DA/SA and hammer drop features but hate the price of ammo. Most can be found used for around $200-$225 so it makes for a cheap, reliable carry gun.

Have had a Bersa 380 for 15 years never had a problem have no idea how many rounds put through it. It always works and accurate. Great CCW gun. I hate using the word "cheap" feel like I discredit it for it's quality and reliablity. I try to say inexpensive gun instead.

Bersa has been making reliable small guns for years and really dont get the respect they deserve. My current carry gun is then new Bersa polymer 9mm the BP9CC.

I have/had the 380CC. Great gun. Lousy thin grips. Put some wood grips on it and now it is like butter in the hand.

    Accurate and 100% reliable.

Purple grips because it was a gift to my daughter.

Excellent suggestion. At the last 1500 show several dealers had surplus CZ-83's for $250 or so.
