    smashed up Wheaties
    can of corn

mix it up and add water....but keep it as doughy and sticky as possible so you can form it around treble hooks.

Wheatie balls are the she-it. Or man up and go Indian style like my kids, just jump in a wrastle 'em.:D

They got sick of catching bluegill one day and asked if they could try to catch some carp. I said sure, have fun. I went running back out a few minutes later when I heard screaming and splashing. My son, the blonde, and his buddy convinced my daughter that the only way to catch a carp was by hand, and in she went. The screaming was from the boys who were in disbelief when she came out with a fish.

Not 20+ pounders, but watching little kids wrestling in the mud with fish is highly entertaining. Unfortunately, mine aren't little anymore and their antics these days are less entertaining and far more expensive.

This is at my Grandpa's house. Carp like these are very common, but he has some grassies that look like freakin sharks swimming around.

I am posting this up on here for a friend and for all the fellow INGO carper fishermen. This is going to be one heck of an event for a really good cause. I plan on attending and either fishing or helping out with everything. Even if you didn't fish this would be a great opportunity to come and check out the carp fishing and what its all about.

On Saturday August 9th from 8am to 4pm at Pike Lake in Warsaw IN. It will be in Lucerne Park and Pike Lake Park.

Entry Fee/ Donation Fee: will be $25 with 100% going to Autism Awareness and Research. Prizes for top 3 fish will get first pick of donated prizes. All other donated items will become raffle ticket prizes. Any non present angler wanting to donate the $25 will still be eligible for raffle as well.

All anglers will be encouraged to let the kids participate in all aspects of carp fishing...angling of fish, netting, and release of fish and of course pictures. Hands on is a great learning experience for the children.

Lunch will be provided to all in attendance. We will have a donation bucket in the food area.

Pat Welch will have his “More than Words” custom Chevy S10 autism show truck for pictures with anglers, children and the carp.

Shirts will be available for $20. All money over cost of shirts will go to autism awareness.

Bring the whole family for a fun filled day, with lots to do and see.

When the mulberries are ripe I've seen pretty large (15-20lbs? never landed one) carp gobbling the mulberries that hit the water in the east branch of the calumet. I threw worms on a #12 hook (nothing else, with a 15' pole, so no weight to scare them off), they had NO interest in anything but the mulberries. So, in the future I'll be collecting mulberries then hitting the river. When I go to the portage beach walk I can usually get a carp on corn, but typically it would be 1-2 in 4+ hours (but I also don't really know what I'm doing). I've seen some that looked 30+ pounds coming up like a whale to surface.

Took a 27.5# Grassie out of Simonton Lake in 2004 with an arrow. A friend took a 34# Common out of the same lake a couple years ago.
(Probably the same one I missed a year or so before.)

Totally 100% rod and reel catch and release here. I do it for pure sporting purposes and relaxation. I try to get along with everybody including bowfisherman.

With that being said I looked at Simonton Lake on Google Maps and it looks like its totally surrounded by houses.I saw the boat launch and possibly a couple spots to fish from the bank. Where, if there is any, public bank space to fish from??? Also is this the kind of place you have to be a member of the Home Owners Association to have access to???? I'd love to try it out, especially if there's 30's swimming around in there.

I love carp fishing. I have been doing it for years and I still make up my own bait. I know there are boilies and pack bait to use but I still like my own bait.

If you look on the map at the southern side there is a public launch off of C.R. 4 across from the campground. The road is C.R. 109 (Maple Grove Ave) and it's a fair distance from C.R. 4 to the landing. The landing is actually between the two lakes. If that's the one you mention, I've seen people fishing from the bank there from time to time. Don't know of any association membership. If there is one I'm not a member.
We always go at night and you see a lot then when no one's around. There are some fine bass, walleye and catfish in there. There are also pike and we even saw a Muskie once. (Only one in ten years but it was there.) There are also some scary snappers and leather backs lurking around in there.
But we're limited to carp, gar, dogfish and suckers. And the two times we've run into a game warden he wished us lot's of luck. Seems the only ones who appreciate carp are the ones who are stalking them.
