    Went there on the 3rd with my wife, daughter her boyfriend and a friend of theirs. Decided to OC in the mall. Was in the mall for about an hour before mall cop noticed and decides to "call it in". I was looking at a sleep comfort brochure when an IPD officer slides up and says "Sir I need to you keep you hands where they are and follow me". Ok, no worries. I end up in a service hallway with a total of 4 FOE. After a couple minutes they bring in another guy who was OC that day, he has a baby with him that looked to be a couple months old.

    Head FOE takes my gun, and my license to call it in. Tells me that this is private property and that I can't OC in the mall. I responded with the I didn't see any posting as I entered about no firearms, if I had I would have concealed it. As this was a school or government building I could OC. FOE states there is signage at the entrance, both myself and the other guy state we did not see any sign, else we would not be walking around OC. FOE states we shouldn't OC because it makes people "nervous". Long and short of the story is we are escorted back to our cars. On the way out I chat with the officer about the situation, honestly he seemed a bit embarrassed but nice enough We leave out Sears south entrance and I look around at the wall and doors. I asked the officer if he noticed any signage, his reply was no. I asked him if he thought how this played out was wrong, policy was the response.

    On the way out I told the FOE that I had 2 young men, gangbangers, stare me down and grab their waistbands. That is why I carry.

    So, I managed to make my daughters birthday out memorable, dinner at the Cheesecake Factory was great.:rockwoot:

    Me too--What is FOE???

    Sorry to hear of your misadventures at Castleton Mall.
    The only thing is:::

    ALL Simon malls are Anti-gun zones, and are pretty well known for it on INGO.

    For me, I do go to some of Simon Malls, and I have never been questioned--I do CC-Not OC, and I do just fine in knowing that I am protected..Bill.

    Simon Mall Properties are NOT carry friendly - at all.

    So, the officer had probable cause to believe your firearm was stolen? Presenting your LTCH is supposed to end that line of questioning, and this would become a simple trespass issue.

    Sorry about your day.

    Their firearms policy is posted on their "Code of Conduct" sign near each mall entrance, but not the entrances to or from their anchor stores.

    IMHO there are times for OC and times for CC. If I MUST go to Simon Mall--I just CC and don't challenge the policy by OC. Their house, their rules--BUT my right to protect myself. What they don't know won't allow me or mine to be victims.

    Interesting. Does that mean the anchor stores may set a policy that differs from the rest of the mall?

    Probably. I'm just saying they don't have CoC signs at, say, the outside entrance to Sears or the entrance from Sears to the mall. Given that the signs technically hold no weight of law, though, does it really matter? You're still aware of their policy. At this point, you could enter via Sears and claim innocence, but you know you'd be lying.

    Yes. Galyan's used to have a sign that was pretty explicit that guns were OK in Galyan's but not in the mall. May still be there for Dick's, but I don;t think so. As for me, I carry all the time on Simon properties. I just don't OC.

    Guess that shows how often I go to malls...nobody seems to mind if I'm carrying a gun when I'm cyber-shopping:D Also no gang-bangers; no JBT FOE's (whatever that is); no door dings; no MWAG calls; less $4 gas; and less money blown.
