I'm taking my family to see Jeff Dunham at the KFC yum center this weekend. Their website doesn't seem very carry friendly, but neither is the Louisville zoo and i've carried there. I wanted to see if anyone has any thoughts Or experiences?

I've only been there once, for the Rush concert last year. There was absolutely no searches of any kind for that particular show. Odd thing about the place is, if you park in the garage under the arena, the guy at the door there in the garage scans your ticket, and lets you in. Once you go up the elevator, you are beyond anyplace that would do searches.

I have been there many times for concerts, and every time I have been waved down by metal detectors and patted down on the waist. I never tried carrying my gun in simply because I didn't want to be turned around and have to go call the way back to my car.

However I did have a buddy that had a pocket knife with him. It set off the metal detector and he showed it to security and they let him go on in with it.

I went to the Rush concert as well last year and I was checked by security. I entered through the main doors facing the street.

Yeah, I was kinda shocked that there was zero searches from where I entered. As I said, though, there was a guy at the garage level entrance scanning tix, so I figured we'd be funneled through another area upstairs, but nothing. I didn't actually see any checkpoints down at street level either, but when I go to a Rush show, I'm like a kid on Christmas morning.:):

I'll just park at the KFC parking garage and if they check me at least I'm not far from my car. If they do oh well if not then great! I believe if a place is owned by the city of louisville then they cannot say anything as long as you are legally carrying, like the zoo. The zoo is very anti-gun, but they are funded by the city so all they can do is give you dirty looks.

It's also very easy to get out of the garage and jump on the 2nd street bridge, or I64 from the underground garage.:yesway:

    Maybe it's event-dependent.

I was there back in April and the only checkpoint at entrance was to check people for carry-in food and drink. All those Starbucks over-priced lattes had to be chugged or chucked.

    No fun...

One thing that always stuck me funny was that the yum center always has chairs out on the floor for the general admission concerts. Even some heavier bands that played, they put chairs out and people just stand there. I don't know why they do that.:dunno:

Wow. No guile at all. I would have thought the head of security for the KFC Yum Center would at least have had the sense to use a pseudonym...

Or maybe this isn't even them in the first place and someone's having us on.

    hmm
I'm also going to the show on Sunday. It'll be my first time @ the Yum Center. Given events today I sure would feel much better carrying...

Just got back from the show (second time I've seen him & as before it was well done, aside from staring 22 min. late :))

I opted not to carry. However, fwiw there were a number of guys w/wands at the entrance, next to the ticket checkers. But they didn't really seem to be wanding any/many people. I walked right in w/o being swept. I'm not sure if they were only checking randomly or perhaps backpacks, etc...

They were probably just looking for people wearing INGO hats.:):
