On top of that we all have lives to live. Weekends can be very busy and a time for family and getting things done.
Patience GRASSHOPPER!!!! Good to get no answers to any questions in the future!!!.
Have a great rest of the day!!!

It all boils down to what you going to be doing with it!!!!!
Exactly some of us have Two Jobs when emergencies hit, then some of us do stupid things like work 24 hours strait then grab a little sleep and volunteer with clean up efforts.

308 Winchester has higher pressure loads and thinner brass than the 7.62x51mm.

7.62x51mm has thicker brass cases and allows less room for powder. Iirc 7.62x51mm is around 58k psi, and 308 is around 62k psi.

According to the Sporting Arms and Ammunition Manufacturers’ Institute (SAAMI), it is not considered “unsafe” to fire either round in weapons chambered for either .308 Winchester or 7.62x51mm NATO.

Well, I see that the majority, can't take the time to offer any useful information to a question, but they certainly can show their character. It's nice that those people crawl out and reveal themselves early on, as to know who to avoid. Those people are experts in their own right.

Have a wonderful evening. Even those condescending " ". I'll allow you to fill the blank with your choice descriptive. After all, you know yourself best.
Several people replied to you with good information. Your last two posts were inflammatory and now you are getting flak for it, and deservedly so.

You could have picked up on the posts answering your question. Yet you attacked basically everyone on the forum because you didn't get an answer in a few hours. Sometimes it takes a day or two depending on who shows up and reads your questions. Sometimes a few minutes.

The guys here are a good group and very helpful. You just went at it like someone spoiled and use to getting their way immediately. It's very rude of you.

I missed all the fun until I noticed this and the shooter list thread ascending together to the top of the new posts page. Oh well, can’t be there for all the fun all the time!

After the banning of the OP there were some excellent informative posts and hasn't become a lengthy food discussion.

INGO is like a box of chocolates...

7.62x51mm NATO is a fixed specification round, since it's used by all NATO member countries.

It is a military round, and might be too 'Hot' for some civilian .308 Winchester chambered rifles, even though it will interchange in Chambers.
The military is under no obligation to stick to, or notify civilians when they change specifications for ammo.

The way the chamber is cut is the biggest difference between RIFLES.

The Winchester .308 round history is pretty well known, specifications can be found at Sporting Arms Ammunition Munitions Institute (SAAMI).

There are differences between civilian .308 and 7.62x51 NATO cases and loaded cartridges.
Generally the two will interchange in factory loaded ammo, but reloaders MUST pay attention or bad things can easily happen.

Considering the answer to OP's question on differences between .308 and 7.62 is based in fact rather than opinion he could've spent 10 minutes using Google and YouTube and got definitive answers. Now as to the rifle that's a matter of opinion for most part
