The freedom for consenting adults to gather in marriage in whatever form they choose. Might be 2 guys. Might be a girl and 2 guys or a group or what have you. As long as they are consenting and of legal age, (as required under most aspects of contract law) then let anything go. Marriage has taken many forms over humanities history. No reason it shouldn't evolve further. But this is getting off topic, which is what you seem to want.

As I asked in post 36, what gives us the moral authority that requires the union to be consenting?

Most, if not all of those civilizations with liberal "marriage" norms are history. I think one could easily correlate the downfall of the American culture with its liberalization of sexual moreys.

As far as taking this thread off topic, I disagree. It is typical progressive tactics to focus in incremental, progressive, changes to get to some desired state without considering where the road might end.

NAMBLA has NOTHING to do with gay marriage and I find your sarcastic comparison of the two to be in extremely poor taste. :noway:

    They are just born differently.

Do you think they choose to love boys?

I mean really, who would put themselves through that?

If neither what? Sorry but I don't understand your question.

Its a paraphrase of a thomas jefferson qoute. The logic, the arguement that many that supports "gay marriage" is that what two people do is none of our business....

Many also believe that we should stay out of parents' business in the way they raise their kids.

    I say fair enough...uncle, but....

If these arguements are good enough for homosexuals, then it should be good enough for other lifestyles. Why not?

Ah, excuse my ignorance of the TJ quote. ;). So if I understand your question, are you asking why I judge one group (gay folk) over another (pedophiles, which aren't the same as gay folk )?

You just can't help yourself, can you.

I'm sure he'll correct me if I'm wrong, but J_Wales' point is the same as mine.

The public has bought into all these arguements is regards to homosexuals. Why are they the only ones to occupy that high ground?

Not me... But evidently some are born that way (even though there is no pedophile gene).

Scientists have found evidence of pedophilia in other species in nature.

    The Greeks practiced it.

Why do you hate those that love differently than you?

    Are you a pedophilephobe?

    Are you a biggot?

I don't care for those who impose their will against the helpless or unwilling...be it child molestation or rape. If that means I'm a biggot, then so be it.

He never said anything about imposing on the unwilling, did he. I happen to be in complete agreement with J Wales that it cannot be logically argued that one outside the mainstream sexual proclivity is a matter of being born that way and they can't help it, but others are choices. It is one way or the other unless one wishes to descend into the gutter of being a mere political shill for a specific vocal minority.

I see what you are saying and its a valid point. Having said that, perhaps everything is a choice...including whether we are straight, gay, bisexual, pedophiles, murderers, etc...

Under what authority can the federal government protect the definition of marriage? The national dictionary of the national language? Oh, there isn't one.

There are several INGO'ers who regularly try to redefine the definitions of anarchy, liberal, and progressives. If you aren't a republican ball washer, you must be one of the above. So we pick one word in all of the English language to pick the hill and die on to preserve?

GFGT...I realize we are simply having a healthy discussion on a particular topic...I just want you to know that I didn't mean to get in any kind of pi$$ing match with you. I normally enjoy reading your posts and no matter how this bears out, will continue to do so.

Heavens' no! Absolutely I enjoy a good natured debate devoid of name calling, etc. Challenging ideas and logic helps me to understand why I believe what I do and refine my arguements. I appreciate the kind words and hope you (and anybody else for that matter) realize none of my posts are intended to be personal...I'm here to have fun and learn. Challenge me all you want, it doesn't hurt:)

The fallacies that have beset this thread are astounding. If I were Rambone I would post a picture of that Muppet who threw fish into the crowd.
