    As much as I distrust the .gov, this article is not correct. Here's where they go awry:
    The feds intend to take the battle directly to the musicians who use Gibson guitars, which are considered the best in the business, and to the fans who come to hear them play.
    There is no proof of that. The article they cite doesn't claim that. In fact, even though old guitars technically have to show provenance (which no one has!), the .gov has stated they never intended to go after end users. (Which begs the question why the idiot legislators can't write better laws, but that's because they don't read them and if they do, have little understanding of their full impact).

    Furthermore, Lamaar Alexander saying he wants to change US law so musicians don't get their guitars confiscated going into Canada to play concerts doesn't work. US Customs wouldn't be involved, but Canadian customs would and they also abide by the same import/export classifications, and they can be more pissy than the US. Of course, returning to the country would entail US Customs.
