In that case, driving out 3 pins on the glock is far easier and faster than removing the grips alone on the 1911.... and can be done with a rock and a stick in a pinch.

Cool.........Just do it. Keep it clean and lubed up. No matter what it is. Take care of it and it will take care of you.
People tell me all the time they clean their guns.
I take them apart and find all kinds of crap in them.
Proper cleaning and lube them up. Owner is amazed how much better it feels as in slide/trigger. Glock/sig/AR/1911.....no matter.....clean it when you use it.

It is more than a swab down the barrel. Much more.

I should think that this discussion is in the "eye of the beholder". I have two 1911's, one for work, one for the rest of the time, however, I do have a Glock 27 should I need it.

I used to avoid Glocks because I assumed they were complex inside, like a lot of other modern pistols. Once I bought my first, I realized how easy they were. I own both and I agree with the camp that says the Glock is easier to detail strip. For field stripping, I like the 1911 better. It's not easier, but better. Even though the Glock may be easier, the 1911 is more fun to detail strip. The only thing I don't like about taking a 1911 totally down is the grip screw bushings. I just keep extras on hand for those times.

When I detail strip a Glock, I always feel like there are only so many times I can punch the plastic pin out of the back before it will get loose in there.

I consider it a work of art ... a deadly work of art.
I detail strip it about twice a year to make sure
it's properly lubricated and in good shape. I also
think it's a pleasurable experience, relaxing.

I also have 2 Glocks, I consider them to be tools.
