I was in Big R a few weeks ago when you were working. I had $1000 cash in pocket and was looking to buy. Meanwhile, you and another fella behind the counter were discussing a female coworker. You loudly called her (a manager I believe) names and complained about her over and over again. You ignored the fact that I was trying to look in the case you and he were leaning all over, and the fact that you had a department full of customers.
After several minutes of having t listen to your little rant, I turned and left the store. I went elsewhere and bought what I wanted. I will never buy from Big R as long as you are working there. I don't figure it will take long with an attitude like yours.
Had I been your boss you would have been fired on the spot and escorted to the door. I considered complaining to management, but I think you will hang yourself soon enough.

I rarely frequent distant gun shops, other than the occasional gun show. At my local shop, I'm one of those dreaded "regulars". But then again, about 40 years of purchasing at the same store, a regular should have a perk or two. What do I get for my money?... I still wait my turn, safety rules are still required, but I can trade in ammo if I need to... I can trade in a gun sight unseen, and walk out with what I'm trading for and bring in the trade-in the next day... I can call him on his day off to get me something I simply have to have (rarely done)... I have copies of his FFL to fax to another dealer if I buy something that needs transferred.... I also pay a bit more now and then, but there are tangible benefits that result from being a regular. I have dealt well with the dad for 20 years, and I've dealt well with the son for 20 years..... what's not to like?

I don't work in a gun store but my problem is with THE CUSTOMERS.

Don't point a gun at me.

    Don't pull the trigger.

Don't waste the everyone's time by debating weather to get the .25 cobra or the .32 jennings. Just step away from the counter.

No, you aren't as smart as you think you are.

No it isn't worth what you think it is.

No, the AK can not be converted to full auto.

Don't like how much it costs? Buy it on gunbroker.

This isn't 1973, yes it has gotten more expensive.

Yes it is legal to open carry.

I don't care what your nephew said, yes it is legal.

Yes you saw this on Modern Warfare.

    No you can't touch it.

Unless you have a large stack of cash.

165 is the grain weight of the bullet, not how much powder is in it the cartridge.

No we don't sell burst kits for sks rifles.

No your glock can not be modified to be a G18.

    Like in modern warfare.

There should be minimum hygiene requirements to buy a gun.

This is epic! I do much gun shopping ( and browsing) at a place where the long guns are on customer accessible racks. It blows me away how many people feel they have a duty to rack the action on every gun on the floor. Recently was looking at model 12 Winchesters at a shop and two older fellows ,obviously model 12 fans, walked the aisle just ahead of me . These chaps removed every single model 12 and gave it a pump or two. Couldn't believe it. I know gun shops have to control costs but the guns should be secured and handed out for inspection by staff.

I only get up to Crawfordsville every other month or so, but based purely on how hate filled the above post is I will now start going to the Big R and buying something whenever I am up there for as long as Joe is working there.

I would never stick my nose in another man's rant, but this made me think of something us customers need to understand, remember, and practice.

We have friends/associates who work at many of the shops we frequent. Many of us will stop by the shop with no intention to buy anything, unless maybe if a box of ammo is on sale or something. Anyway, if we notice a customer walking in the door, our friends should not have to say, "excuse me" or continue to look at the customer with that 'wait one minute' look in their eyes. We should have the common courtesy to walk away and allow our friends to do their jobs. Our small talk can be conducted on INGO, since that's usually the topic of conversation anyway. :twocents: :)

No Joe, I have never worked retail. I'm also not a coward. If you would like, I'm free on Tuesday and if you are working I can stop by and have a chat with you about it.
Did you tell the woman she was a ***** to her face? Or did you just tell your coworker and the store full of customers?

PS. I was the guy with the baby in the cart, standing on the other side of the counter.

I've had a number of folks, many of them INGO'ers, stop in and say hi. You make a good point, thankfully it's one that seems to be well understood by just about everyone. If I'm booming, they've always understood and waited, or said bye and left if they didn't have time. It's not all that uncommon to find me several people deep in customers, since we deal with a lot more than just guns. In fact, the guns aren't our prime focus.

As a frequent customer, I would rather wait and allow a new customer to get their feet wet in 'my store' because they are new. I can either wait or come back the next day. It's more important to me that 'my store' becomes the more successful because I don't want them to go away.

BTW, I call Bradis 'my store' because I have spent thousands of dollars in there and I'm invested in their success. They not only treat me like family, but everyone who walks into the store. I've witnessed a couple times when the employees get into some playful banter that's a bit overboard, but hey, that's what makes the place feel like a home. So, bottom line, frequent customers should be just as courteous as the employees, IMPO.

Funny Joe, neither one of you were waiting on customers. Your coworker was visibly uncomfortable with your conversation and he is the one that stopped you. Unfortunately it went on way too long.

    I chuckled. I'd rep you but I'm dry. :D

Obviously it wasn't THAT big of a deal. If I TRULY had an issue with the way I was treated in a store, I would make sure I filed a complaint with the business. That's the adult thing to do IMO.
