thanks guys! i went to my LGS and tried both out. I was more comfortable holding the gen 3. I also prefer the magazine release sticking out more than the gen 4 did.Plus the grips finish on the 4 still irritated me.

it was a used gun for $535 but looked immaculate. no holster wear and the barrel looked like it was just cycled once. they had no other gen 3 new in stock so i took it.
now for a good holster and magazine holder.

Gen 3 G 17 would be my suggestion.

Thats what I would say. I prefer the Gen 3 to the Gen 4 myself.

What model Gen 3 did you buy for $535? Any upgrades done to it or all stock? Curious minds wants to know.

Gen 3 model 34. Got it at freedom arms in fort Wayne. NHT3. If I am in the area, i will surely pm you. I need to shoot it before I can tell you what I might need though.

At the price I suspected the 34, and for the record, I am jealous. I will have a 34. Now you gotta get out and shoot it, shoot it a lot.

I had a 34 for a while and loved it. Great shooter, however for me it was a terrible carry gun.
