A recent thread has me wondering about how many rounds of 22 rimfire ammunition the average shooter keeps on hand. I have never had more than a few thousand at any one time, preferring to purchase them on an as-needed basis, since 22 is always available...right? :(

Well, it used to be, anyway. How about you guys? Do you want to stock up on it, with the current political climate?

I have always kept a metric crap ton of .22lr on hand. Having a machinegun that shoots .22 made me keep a lot on hand. I pretty much always pick up a brick any time I find myself at a place that sells such things regardless of what I have on hand.

I kept a brick but I only had a single shot rifle. Now I have a pistol and shoot a lot more 22. Currently at about 1500.

I'm down to about 6K rounds now, and getting just a little worried that the prices won't come back down at all, let alone a lot.
I'd like to have 20K but I'm not going to pay $50 for a brick of .22lr, not yet anyway.

Should have had some higher groupings. A single case of bulk ammo is 5k+ rounds, so it was actually easy to have that much from a single order.

I shoot a lot of .22 so I always had about 4-5k on hand. Like VUPD said, anytime I was at a place that sold it I would pick up a brick or 2.

Never less than 5000, but having a belt fed 22 eats into the stock a little.

I like to keep about 3 or 4 bricks is reserve. I don't quite have that right now, but I'm not letting it stop me from plinking. I haven't been lucky enough yet to find any on the shelf at (normal) retail this year.
    Maybe one day...

I voted 5000+.... Currently, it's all CCI minimags, CCI & Fed bulk, and a little Aguila... No Remington here... :D

Even in plentiful times, I don't like dealing with Walmart.... I also don't like dealing with many different lots...

I am picky about what I buy, but when I see what I want online ( CCI Blazer, Fed bulk pack, CCI mini mags, and a couple offerings from Aguila), I always buy by the case...

Can't go wrong buying too much as long as you don't over pay... I can only see the value of ammo going up over the long term.
