Lol. I'd prefer to not blow anything up :)

Ok, so I leave Indiana for one day and the wheels are coming off INGO :runaway:

I never thought I would see the words "I'd prefer to not blow anything up" posted on INGO.

I'm hoping things will get back to normal before I get back from Texas on Friday.

Is The bully from Speedway heading up the intervention?

a lot of shredders will shred the HD if you remove it from the spindles.

If you wish to preserve it while blanking it, get yourself a really strong rare earth magnet and put it near it and let it spin.
Be very careful, a rare earth magnet will remove body parts if you get it too close to something it wants to stick to.

Another vote for disassembly. Those magnets are wicked strong. I have quite a few. Just do NOT get any body parts you like between them. It hurts. (Laptop drives not so much, but still powerful based on mass)

Once the drive is open, damage the platters and it is adequately destroyed. Actually, once you open the drive and put your fingerprint oils all over the platters it is adequately damaged fro most applications. So unless you have something REALLY bad on it (like NSA/FBI/CIA woudl be interested) simply, opening the drive and scuffing the platters is enough.

    LM,

I can likely recover your photos if you want them. Have a few other old systems that I'll be wiping/recycling as spring cleaning soon. Leme know if you want yours included.

Pull magnets, pull platter(s), drop it in acid. Muriatic, sulfuric, etc. Liquid nitrogen would be cool (pun), then fly it like a Frisbee into the side of the house!
