There's a whole group of people who, deep down inside, want a 1911, but they've bought the notion that Glock is the only acceptable fighting handgun.

Solution- Glock 1911. It's marketing 101 and I am highly surprised it has not been released. My guess is as soon as they can come up with something about the 1911 they can claim is Glock unique, it will be released.

they're ugly, certainly, but I can see the utilitarian appeal of adding a rail with no permanent alterations -- can be taken off just as easily.
Am I the only one?

(If *I* really wanted a rail that bad, I'd just buy a railed 1911, but that goes against the clean lines of a 1911 in my book)

Yeah it's just crazy to think an established gun maker with its own popular guns would do something so dumb as to go into the 1911 market where there are plenty of 1911 specific makers already. I mean, who would blatantly copy a 100 year old design just to make a few bucks from brand loyal saps?

While that's true, I'd still love to have it. 1911s aren't comfortable to me, but boy do I love me some Glocks.
