How far away from a house can you hunt in Indiana?

Discharging a firearm (including a bow and arrow) is prohibited in or within 150 yards of a developed recreation site, a residence, or any place where people are likely to be. Shooting across bodies of water is also prohibited.

So my wife is in the house and from my back yard I can't shoot my rifle or bow at a target in the country? If I walk 125 yards from my house to the woods and shoot a deer thats illegal...? Just saw this today on internet and thought no way?

First I've heard of that in IN. Maybe from somebody else's house. Was joking around with the local fish cop about deer hunting from my kitchen window. He said as long as I had my orange on, I'd be good to go.

    In the corn and beans
I was hoping someone would show me to see if this is true?
Easy, IC#, then everyone can know.

I shoot out of my barn. Out of an old truck on the north fence line. My deer blind is a bale of hay in the barn with a cup of hot coffee.

Duck hunters shoot across water everyday during season.

    -SOME- city people.

“There’s a bear in the corn field“. (My sister in law) when they built a house on 5 acres I sold them.

I wonder how much of this is subject to interpretation?

I ran into a gentleman some years back that recounted his "poaching" charge. In season, in his own yard, everything legit except for a bad neighbor relationship, (who called him in.) That was combined with a new rookie CO, looking to make a name for himself.

Guy ultimately ended up pleading guilty rather than fighting the poaching charge. He decided the judge immediately sided with the CO and appeared to not like hunters at all.

Guy cut his losses and gave up an 870 along with $165 for the fine.

    :dunno:

For hunting or just shooting in general?
If target shooting I have shot within 50yds of my house sometimes less.
I've also set up a blind around 50yds from my house as well.

.....have a hard time with that down here in Brown County. Now, if you live in a large populated housing area and shooting at a neighbors house. You may have reason to pause! I rarely shoot rifles where I live because I don't have good clear long range area.
