In the “free will” version of Christianity, yes. God is somewhat libertarian. Calvinists and Sam Harris (an atheist) believe there’s no such thing as free will.

I have had lengthy, quite deep, and quite interesting discussions with Calvinists. I am not a Calvinist, and their belief in predestination is by no means a mainstream Christian doctrine.

It was good to watch the debate.

Rokita spoke like a politician. Everything was a soundbite answer. He lost more points with me with his Trump-inspired, "Wrong" interjections.
Messer was so pro-Trump it was nauseating. "The President" this. "The President " that.
Braun seemed to be the most natural, dumping the suit and tie and seemed to answer the questions asked...

Reformed, Presbyterian, Lutheran,a sizeable percentage of Baptist, Episcopalian (Anglican), Church of Christ... all Calvinist in some form.


At least from one study, Calvinst make up 1/3, so, a minority, yet still a mainstream Christian doctrine; just like Pentecostalism and Holiness is a mainstream Christian doctrine, just not the majority.



As to Calvinist and free will, many Calvinist will say that you don't have free will in accepting Christ.

That IS the basic tenet of Calvinism.

I have it on good authority that around the turn of the 19th Century, many Presbyterians while believing in Calvinism preached like Baptists, not knowing who was predestined and who was not.

I came back to this thread to see if there were any additional insights into the candidates for the "Indiana Senator Election" but after reading the last several pages I see that a good and proper derail has made that most unlikely. Oh well....guess I'll have to count on the media to do it's job.

Wished I could have watched. Recently received Braun's flyers showing him pro-2A and wanting to clean the swamp of the other 2. Didn't care for the minor name-calling (i.e., nicknames) in the latter. Makes me think he'd fit in just fine in the swamp. Regardless, he's gotten very little support here so not a viable candidate anyway it seems.

That's where I'm at, but after watching the "debate" last night, I wasn't at all impressed with any of them. Going to be another vote for the least objectionable....or maybe just flip a coin a couple of times.

Just listened to Braun on the Tony Katz show being hosted by Guy Relford. He sounded like a FUDD, I have a gun, it was given to me by my grandfather, I hunt, I understand gun ownership. After every question on the 2nd he quickly switched back to drain the swamp. Too bad, I wanted to like him when he started to run, at this point: NO SALE.

And so far none of the debates nor the interviews are really helping me figure out who I think is best. I'd be interested in hearing others selection, together with their why's.
