    Funny thing is, we were not in there for nation building, we were there for the mere act to kill terrorists, not engage in nation forming or democracy. The democracy that we tried to enact was a show, a sham, just something to show the world that we were doing something "good" and try to get the nation of Afghanistan to rally behind our cause to kill a major faction in their political structure.

    Mission done: Killed Osama bin Laden. Now, the Taliban are back in force in local Afghan politics and nothing we can do about it. We had the op to forgo all of this by continueing to support Afghanistan in the 80s after we helped kick the Soviets out by helping to build infrastructure and probably would not had half the crap happen, but we didn't. Russians left, mission accomplished, back to regularly scheduled program.

    i would like to point out that berfor the Soviets invaded, Astan was one of the few democracies in the region.
