Ok, all you saddle pals, I have a problem, my, stepson managed to get the lever stuck open on the 336 I gifted him. A lot going on, so only had a few minutes to look at it, the loading gate seemed offset, and the lever won’t close, sorry no pictures right now, any lever gurus had this problem? He’s new to lever guns, thanks for any help, I know most of this is useless

Just guessing here. If the loading gate is offset it could be loose and jamming the carrier. The carrier is the piece that raises rounds from the magazine tube. If the carrier is jammed the lever won't move. Any pics?

Yes, the loading gate is loose and went down into the action.
Tighten the screw with the red circle to bring the loading gate back up. If the lever is stuck, jiggle it and try to work it back so the loading gate will come all the way up.
If it's stuck stuck, carefully remove the yellow circled screw. Remove the lever, tighten the gate screw, reinstall the lever.
You might have to make the screwdriver fit the screw. They're very unforgiving.

Ok, here are pictures of the gun, I tried to remove the loading gate screw, and it won’t budge, and I’m not forcing it ( I have gunsmithing screwdrivers, so that’s not a issue) I backed out the lever screw, but it won’t come out past the threads, again I’m not going to force it, so we shall see…

Will the lever come in a little bit to where it should drop out of the bolt? The bend on the hammer will be in the notch on the back of the bolt. The screw should lift out after a few turns. Carboned up or binding maybe?

I am sorry to hear this.

Unfortunately, the rifle is beyond repair once that happens. It's like a roan with a busted leg.

Solely for the sake of saving you the pain trying to save this old broken down gun, I am willing to give up $200 to take the broken old gun off your list of troubles.

That's a good one. You may try to stick a nail or small screwdriver (not a gunsmith one) in through the loading gate or ejection port to push the mag follower in and work the lever. It's a plunger at the tip of the zip tie. Crappy picture. If that doesn't work I can only suggest posting on Marlinowners.com. There's some pretty sharp Marlin people there.
