Even though he was the "enemy" for most of his life, and his namesake weapon system has been used against our troops since it's adoption by the Soviet Army in 1947, he deserves a place of honor in the annals of the greatest firearms inventors of all time.
He will forever be remembered by firearms enthusiasts as the inventor of the most prolific weapon platform of all time, and the man who has provided countless hours of range time for those of us who own his legacy firearm.
RIP Mikhail
If you think he was an evil communist, you need to read up on his life. Would an "evil communist" be a lifetime member of the NRA and come to many of their conventions?
To the designer of the greatest homeland defense weapon of all times, rest in peace Comrade Kalashnikov.
