My first AR. Newbie scare.

Agreed!! Bore snakes are the shiznit (yeah thats a word)!! I have one for my .22lr and my Mosin. They work great.

I'll 3rd that one. Those snakes make life so much easier.

Yup, we all do stupid things. I have a slight idiot scratch on my 1911 and the first time I completely took apart my 10/22, I couldn't figure out how to get the trigger assembly back together. I had to look on youtube to figure it out.

But hey, no harm, no foul, and you know what not to do next time.
