Today is is a wash, but yesterday turned out great. I got my first buck. A nice 11 pointer. When I get home later today and I get the good pictures off my camera, I'll post along with the story. It was pretty amazing. Especially for my first buck. I definitely won't forget it.

The only thing that fell victim to the 450 yesterday. That's my first kill with it and my first ever coyote. 20 minutes before the shot a hen turkey flew in behind me and walked off out of sight. She kept making noise, the yote made an appearance and was heading in her direction. So there's a good chance I saved that hen's life.

Rest day here in the Hickman House, deer steak n eggs for breakfast, big pot of deer chili going.... ready for some football.

3 packages of steak and 7 pounds of burger in the upstairs freezer remain from last years hunt, downstairs freezer is ready to be filled.

Nice antlers guys! I haven't even seen a buck this year outside of this thread. I'm pretty much gonna take my doe and go home. I think. Too many other things to do now that I've got some venison in the freezer. I got a hog earlier this year and the wife bought 1/2 a cow so there isn't any more room in the freezers anyway. Good luck to all those still on the hunt!

He was tracking 2 does that passed earlier in the morning traveling along a ridge that dropped down to Blue River. I grunted twice and he ignored both of them so I went with the "HEY". He stopped long enough to put a 300 grain Barnes TTSX though his spine. It was about a 115 yard shot he went straight down but started to roll off the ridge. Luckily he only dropped 10-15 feet and not the full 150 down to Blue River.
Sorry for the double post I was struggling with the cell phone.

Got my second deer ever on opening Saturday. At 4:00p he wandered into view, went behind a tree long enough for me to draw, and I was waiting for him on the other side of the tree. The family is excited about venison roast for Thanksgiving.
