My money is on the thugs. If you dropped 500 MS13, Bloods, Latin Kings, or Surenos (working together) in an ISIS controlled city, I'd give it month before that city had a strip club, toyota pickups with 24 inch rims, a liquor store, and empty packages of fruit flavored blunts littering the streets. You guys are selling short the abilities of the criminal element.

Looking at it from an "Enterprise" view point yeah........I can see this.

That is a good idea. Send the Enterprise (if they haven't moved forward with decommissioning it yet) and blast the sh*t out of ISIS. Oh, never mind, 1600 Pennsylvania Ave is still occupied by the spineless and gutless Kenyan of questionable loyalties.

ISIS has no qualms about cutting the thugs in half with a bigazz knife. I'm putting my bucks on ISIS with a knock out in the 2nd round.

Thugs have really no issues with that either. From a military perspective yeah, because gangs aren't geared that way. However, hypothetically, if ISIS took over a place like Detroit, I'd expect it go very badly for them if they tried to impose their rule of law on the populace.

ISIS has been known to exterminate the populace. I still say 2nd round.

You do not understand ISIS. They are acting exactly as their prophet, Mohammed, acted. When he took over a town he butchered the men and most of the boys (those old enough to remember and later seek revenge), sold the married women (the non-virgins) to the brothels, and gave the virgins (females), to his soldiers as booty (spoils of war) to do with as they pleased--age was not an issue. Check the biography of Mohammed by Montgomery Watt for full details.

If ISIS took Detroit, there would be no gang left. Members would be slaughtered without question or delay unless they could prove they were Muslim. It would be too late for them to convert at that point, too. They are dead meat, burned flesh. No mercy. NONE.

Read the reports of what they have done I recently conquered territory. I don't mean the reports in the media. Read the reports from eye witnesses and those who escaped. You will see I am not exaggerating. ISIS is Mohammed's army reborn. They will not negotiate in good faith with infidels. They will show no mercy. They slaughter and win, or leave rejoicing to collect their 72 virgins.

Bottom line, it's "Root, hog, or die!" So, in the scenario presented I would bet on ISIS but I would wait around to collect.

I think you underestimate the populace of Detroit, and over estimate the power of ISIS. Detroit and Mosul have similar populations (just shy of 700K). I can't imagine a scenario where ISIS could ever subjugate that populace.

Kutnupe, I agree those folks in Detroit are tough. I was commenting on your hypothetical situation assuming that ISIS "took over" Detroit. The take over would be the hard part, and ISIS would have its hands full in that fight. Once they "took over" they would have no problem imposing their will on the populace because the men would be dead or soon to be dead.

On on the other hand, Islam took over Dearborn without a fight.

I read a really interesting piece years ago about how, at that time, Chicago was about the only major city where crack hadn't yet become much of a problem. The author gave the credit to Al Capone. It seemed that, even so many years after Scarface died, the network he'd built was still solidly in place, with local guy's controlling all the rackets. And, as fast as the gang members from other cities moved in to sell crack, the local people would take them out just as fast. Since the local guys were doing fine selling their own stuff, they didn't think they needed crack, and they had no tolerance for any competition from anybody.

I don't know if any of that was true, but it was an interesting story.

    You think forgiveness eliminates consequences?

Under sentencing it could have undue influence on the well deserved harshness of the penalty.
Their defense will argue that blah blah terrible mistake, husband forgives them, leniency your honor, etc. etc.
Meanwhile she died in horror and agony along with her unborn child.
The child and husband she left behind have to live with the consequences the lowest scum of society placed upon them.
It's not something I could forgive. Does that make me a bad person? Meh.
