Exactly. Repentance and justice are prerequisites for forgiveness. Without those, forgiveness just becomes tolerance of evil that enables more of it.I recall a saying some branch of the military uses, to the effect that (paraphrased) 'forgiveness is not our job, but the Lord's. Our job is to arrange the meeting.'
I didn't read the article a few posts up, but it seems to me from what y'all are saying that this man, being a man of God, has reversed the above: His job is not to arrange the meeting, but to remove the hate from his heart, akin to the advice people get who hold grudges: they only hurt the one holding them.
I'm not sure I could do that. I rather think I'd enjoy being the one to push the button/throw the breaker/pull the trigger/whatever to send the dirtbags straight to hell.
THEN I would consider forgiving them- once I knew they could never harm another living soul.
Reminder that Jalen Watson was on parole for burglary when he and Taylor committed these crimes against the Blackburn's.
So you're all familiar enough with the admissible evidence against all three such that you are positive that testimony from a direct eyewitness is unnecessary against the other two and you know that all of them did each and every evil deed in this mess equally. Impressive. Admittedly, I haven't read everything there is to read about this case.
The Marion County prosecutor is too preoccupied with worrying about lawful citizens carrying firearms with or without a state-issued permission slip. Ain't nobody got time to worry about violent criminals preying on the innocent.
In the front door and right out the back. This crap has got to stop.
I knew that curry is anti-gun(owner) but I hadn't heard that the prosecutor's office was looking to make "examples" out of people who used guns in self defense. What did I miss? The Marion County prosecutor is too preoccupied with worrying about lawful citizens carrying firearms with or without a state-issued permission slip. No kidding, if pot was legal Curry would've been 0-for the Grundy crew.
Nothing. Just people talking out their backside, as usual.
Well, not exactly. They didn't get the big dog, though. However, there's only so much you can do when witnesses fall off, and when the court system has become a Byzantine maze of ever changing case law. It's all about suppression and keeping information out. The defense knows their guy did it in most every case, so they have decided their job is to keep the facts out since they can't contest them. More prosecutors working the case wouldn't matter. A reboot of the system and a cooperative community (and better informed jurors with less CSI tv time) would matter.
A cooperative community may be a few generations away. A revolving door system won't help make the community more cooperative, I don't know how much is "code" and how much is observation. My beef with Curry on handguns comes from his testimony on 7 Sept at the Statehouse, it won't go away ever.
Does it matter if they each did it? Doesn’t a death during the commission of a felony put them all up for murder? So you're all familiar enough with the admissible evidence against all three such that you are positive that testimony from a direct eyewitness is unnecessary against the other two and you know that all of them did each and every evil deed in this mess equally. Marion County Prosecutor Terry Curry said this year more than 100 people have been arrested in the county for carrying a handgun without a permit and about half of them were charged with other serious crimes, too.
Some lawmakers said the permitting process does not stop criminals from getting a gun. Curry said it was still vital.
“We require people to get a driver’s license; some people drive without a license,” he said.
“That does not mean we eliminate the prohibitions we have against that.”
But some law enforcement officials say getting rid of the licensing process will hamper efforts to get illegal guns off the streets.
"Permitting serves a legitimate purpose in terms of denying the right to carry a handgun to certain individuals," Marion County Prosecutor Terry Curry said. "It also serves a very practical purpose for us in that it provides us with one mechanism for tracking where a handgun has been."
His office has filed more than 1,000 charges of carrying a handgun without a license this year.
"There are any number of scenarios that play out probably every week that start with an officer determining an individual is carrying a handgun without a license," Curry said. "That could be where someone’s involved in a traffic stop, for example, and an initial pat-down for officer safety determines the person has a handgun on them. It could and frequently does then lead to a search warrant for a vehicle and then a discovery of narcotics."
Curry, a Democrat, said the renewed effort to roll back gun control measures at the Statehouse is disappointing.
"It is clearly not an unnecessary hoop," he said of the licensing requirement. "For us, it’s just beyond discouraging that, in our mind, the legislature keeps going the wrong way on gun issues. To me, the fundamental question is: What purpose does this serve other than just grandstanding?"
You think forgiveness eliminates consequences?
It's a matter of letting hate go for him.
Reminder that Jalen Watson was on parole for burglary when he and Taylor committed these crimes against the Blackburn's.
And he was the suspect in another rape a week before. He should have never been on the street.
If this was my loved one........I would not stop until they were all Jack Ruby'd. End of story. Screw forgiveness.
