We have a friend that works in an office that promotes tourism in Bloomington..She was laughing yesterday because her co-workers were all afraid that Bloomington would be seen in a bad light!! What Bloomington NEEDS is people like Andy,Terry ect. They need to get rid of the "artistic wannabe socialists" that run that place!

    +1 !!!!!!!!!

I watched a few clips. All I'll have to say is this: There's a not-so-fine-line between having fun with rural folk and making fun of rural folk.

I'm proud of my obvious rural roots and I understand having fun in the outdoors and not taking yourself too seriously ("Duck Dynasty" comes to mind).

This show is less: "look at the fun these guys are having and laugh along" and more: "look how goofy these rednecks are and laugh at them."

Obviously I don't know the people involved in the show; they may be fine people. What I do know is that the story is often in the editing, not in the shooting. Also, producers have a way of creating situations they think will be "good TV" that in no way reflect reality.

We were at Lowes in Bloomington a few weeks ago and saw that camo truck that the "Bear Man" was driving. We've seen it around a few times since. My wife called the junkyard looking for a part. They didn't have it, but were real helpful in trying to tell her who might.

The show does not cast Indiana in a good light.
Tried to watch the premier.............it was bad and like HM said, I think it isn't a look into a different slice of America, as much as evidencing it for ridicule.
Never met the folks so can't comment on them, but the show itself.................sucks.
To be fair, I hate reality shows and was just clicking through and saw the info tag, so watched.

I've met colorful rural folks and they often posses some charm, some rough around the edges types are actually very intelligent, so never judge a book by it's cover.

The show (granted just one episode) gave no hint of such treasure. And that may be totally the fault of the producers/directors.

Whatever the reason for such omission, it has doomed the program AFAIC.

I've never been self conscious about where I came from. In fact, I'm proud of my roots in southern Indiana. Yes the show is a bit cheesy, so is everything else on television. I honestly think people would tune into a reality show about people watching paint dry. It's filmed as a docu-comedy, and meant to be a light hearted look at a couple of hillbillies having fun. I don't think most folks are going to watch this and think everyone from Indiana is like this, anymore than the do with New Jersey with Jersey Shore.

No..not everybody in Indiana is like this, many of them are unemployed on purpose (you could not FORCE then to take a job) every dime they get comes from .Gov or criminal activity. They turn their .Gov provided housing into an environment not safe for man nor beast, and then go off and vote for anyone who promises to keep the juice flowing..

It is what it is and being from the general area I've heard a TON of mixed opinions on the show and how it's making the area look on national tv...Lets be honest, there are alot of "strange" characters in the rural setting and that's not a bad thing..If they really wanted strange they would have went up the road a little to the Poland/Cunot area..lol

I live in Southwest Ohio and work in Cin. I was going thru the channels tonight and just happened to stop on Porter Ridge. I didn't have any idea where the Porter Ridge was so I goggled the place and clicked on this site. I have to say that the show was absolutely embarrassing. You see, all of my Fathers and Mothers family come from Jefferson County and some of my best childhood memories come from between Madison and North Vernon Indiana. All were God fearing people. In fact, at the age of 27 (1982) I gave my life to God. The memories of my Indiana loved ones were very instrumental in my turning to God. I still get a wonderful thrill just driving thru the area and visiting the place. The only problem is, that most of my beloved people are gone, but their children are still there. Unfortunately, many are given over to drugs and what used to be my joy, has turned to heart break. My heart aches for Indiana.

I work for a fortune 500 Company and have proudly shared with my coworkers of my association with Jefferson County. I have been so proud to share all of my childhood memories and dreams. Deep inside, I have always wanted to move to the area and to live my life of retirement in the area should God Will. However, this Porter Ridge show has given a terrible portrayal of the area. I doubt that my coworkers will watch the show, but it wouldn't surprise me that someone at lunch will bring up the matter and look at me and say, "isn't this the area that you have told us all about"? Many of my coworkers are from other countries and just wouldn't understand. I know that God will give me the Grace to explain that this isn't the area and people that represents the wonderful people of this beautiful state. Please don't mistake this as a religious thread, but boy do we the prayers in this day and age. I love you Indiana!

A fortune 500 company?? AAAH,..Oh no..Woe is me! We here in Indiana may not be deemed worthy of association with the leaders of such an exclusive group of industrialists! Terry,Andy,Jeff...You are hurting our economic growth potential..

Those who talk ghetto or hick are an embarrassment.
It matters not the child or adult location.
It seems that we admire different qualities in people...I am embarrassed by lazy, dishonest, fools who keep pushing socialist agendas. You are embarrassed by the
    grammatically incorrect.

My expectations were Not met. I'm only 2 episodes in and hope that it improves in content. I'm not sure what I expected and watch because it was filmed in my hood and enjoy the local scenery and businesses. I'm not a reality TV show fan but do enjoy Hillbilly Blood. Terry is portrayed as a simpleton which cannot be the reality. I love the girl and the bear, BUT please have Terry wear a shirt and lose the gold chain :):
