I wish I had a dollar for every beer I have drank in a bar whose name I could not pronounce (and probably didn't know anyway). I could buy lots more guns.

Given my job there, it doesn't really qualify as having "served."

However, our son is a Marine. He really enjoyed sharing this pic with me ... :D

I was TDY to Athens Greece after the '67 war between the Arabs and Israel.

I was TDY at Yokota AB, Japan for three months after the Tet Offensive started in '68. At the same time, the North Koreans captured the Pueblo and we were pretty busy with stuff moving to Korea in case anything broke out there.

I went in the reserves for four years up at Grissom in 1980. That was as a firefighter (my civilian occupation).

I had some good times in the service. I got to see a lot and learned a lot.

Any service job is helpful to the whole effort. Don't cut yourself down. Trigger pullers cannot pull a trigger if they dont have bullets. Mind won't be on the job if their finances are messed up, if they have no arty or air support. The air support has no support to keep them in the air. If they have no food to eat, no supplies for any or anything else. I could continue to go on, but you get my point. Thanks for your service. Even if it was in the Air Force. hahaha just kidding. :patriot:

Good for you, T-Bird. My first four years in Sam's Green Dream (September 1966 - August 1970) were as a member of the Agency. Almost a year in training (BCT at FLW and 05K AIT at Devens - following what seemed like a never-ending "hold" waiting for school), one year on beautiful Shemya ("The Black Pearl of the Aleutians"), and two years at Asmara. Four of the best years of my life, and I'll always be proud to have been ASA! :patriot:

P.S. Soft-pedal that bit about Pleiku. As we all know, there was no ASA in Viet Nam! ;)

US Army Active Duty, 11B (Infantry), spent 10 years in before my last major injury (tore my ACL) and decided to get out before I completely fell apart. Spent 4 years at Fort Lewis, Washington and and 6 at Fort Riley, Kansas.

In that time, 3 deployments to Iraq between 2004 and 2010 for a total of about 37 months.

    Good times.
