Friend got this small frame 38 S@W cal. 5 shot from dads estate, . Pic really doesn't show barrel writing , but there's a lot. They're not from our alphabet. Ideas?
I'd vote for this based on the information presented.my thoughts, a spanish smith copy.
Way back in the day, I remember seeing a few that were comical in their errors.......Most of the have ‘bad English’ writing on them....
"Gibberish" is a good description. You may have nailed itBarrel writing is too blurry for me to see.
that being said, I have owned several Spanish and Belgian S&W copies over the years. Most of the have ‘bad English’ writing on them. They were either made for export to those in America who didn’t know or didn’t care or for local sales to those who didn’t know English and would assume they were proper.
I’ve never seen a Mid East Smith copy, but I’m sure they are out there. Other Mid East guns I have seen have pretty much gibberish on them to fool folk who definitely don’t speak English.
ETA: good grief; I typed this last night before bed. Making fun of others English and spelling and mine was horrible!!
A lot of them advertise ‘government’ cartridges. Which is funny because I’ve owned more than a few chambered for .32/20…Way back in the day, I remember seeing a few that were comical in their errors.
