Interesting going from a stainless frame $1199 MSRP to an aluminum frame MSRP of $799. Aluminum frames must be easier to manufacture as that's how Dan Wesson did their value "Vigil" line.

My searching seems to be weak. Looking at Sportsman's Warehouse, I'm not seeing a Ruger 1911 in the $560'ish price range? Help a brother out with a link?

Not to be a buzzkill, but as we learned from Tisas, "Novak type" and "Novak style" doesn't necessarily equal Novak cuts.
I have no idea if the Ruger has "to spec" Novak sight cuts or not.
Just raising awareness of a possible issue. This Ruger is equipped with a DAS by Kensight, which is made for the Novak rear sight cut.

Seems like every major manufacturer of 1911’s has them all in every different flavors.
Except for my preferred configuration. Commander slide with an officer frame. A couple years ago it seemed like they were everywhere but now it's hard to find that configuration from most big names.

indeed because for a 45 ACP a full sized frame is required.

But seriously I am just happy to see a decent variety of offerings again. It’s nice that a 1911 can be had in so many sizes and offerings.

I have a stainless Ruger SR1911 Commander in .45 ACP that AllenM did a bob-tail on...
I want a LW Ruger SR1911 Commander in 9mm and will probably have AllenM do a bob-tail on it as well...
That'll be my 1911 collection and I'll be very happy (read: 'contented') with that!
To each their own... Happy Hunting!

Any concerns with being able to bob tail an aluminum frame after the fact?

That works for me. No adjustable sights, no forward serrations, beaver tail w/palm swell, flat mainspring housing, no rail, rounded trigger gaurd, 45ACP, skeletonized hammer, thumb safety on the proper side ONLY. All this... from Ruger... for $560? Seems too good to be true. If it has Series 70 internals, I may just buy one.

    Why do you hate lefties?
