    I'm 99% sure the original .327 was an SP101.

yes ruger was the 1st on the market with the .327 in their sp101 with 3 1/16 bbl. then they came out with the gp 100 with a 4" bbl then they had the black hawk. just recently they introduced the single seven in 3 different bbl lengths. ive got the sp 101,the gp100,and two of the single sevens next WILL b the 4" sp101

Ruger is also making the single six in .327. I like the caliber, and think its kinda neat, but past that, it fills a niche that just doesnt really exist in this state. Really a touch too small for me to be comfortable deer hunting with it, really too much to rabbit or squirrel hunt with (and actually bring back anything edible). Possibly a decent 'yote pistol, but not any better than a 357, or a 22 WMR in that area.

As an anti-personal pocket pistol, I think the usefulness is there, but with so many other options that are just as good, and MUCH easier to find on a store shelf, it kinda turns me off for that use as well. If I had the money burning a hole in my pocket, I think I would own one. But honestly, there just isnt anything that it can do that my 38/357 revolvers cant do just as well, or better.

Ok, I'll continue this parlor game. How about a MkII auto pistol with ported barrel and optics mount?

It would allow the .22LR Steel Challenge people to "shoot major" :ar15:

    Lolz. Bonus points for creativity.
For soklme reason i think that a .22 match might have a bullet diameter max closer to .22, not
    327 ;)

Nothing against Ruger revolvers at all, just still prefer S&W's.

The .327 just seems to be an answer for a non-existent problem. The .357 Mag. / .38 Spl. 'combo' may well be the most versatile handgun caliber extant, though one could probably just as easily make that argument for the .44 Mag. / .44 Spl.

Don't really need another 'redunant' caliber to maintain "just because".

I have actually shot a Ruger 327 mag before and it's a snappy little round.

If I remember correctly, it's a very high pressure round -
Does anyone here RELOAD 327 Fed mag on a regular basis? Just curious

Also, I hope Ruger brings the round back in other revolvers -- they used to have a GP100 in 327 as well, it was a 7-shot.
This round might get a chance if it gains some popularity when we aren't in a gun/ammo crisis! The original release was just bad luck with timing

I just started reloading the .327fedmag.
I've only loaded 60 rounds so far. Ten test loads, then a full box when those proved useful.
My 2009 Hodgdon manual lists pressures everywhere from 11,200psi with a 90gr cast bullet and 32.7grs of Trailboss on the low end, clear up to 43,000psi with a 90gr SIE JHC on top of 6.1gr HP-38 (max load).

These are both data for .327fed mag.
It can be loaded down, or VERY hot for a .32cal.

I got the opportunity to handle it at the NRAAM on Saturday.

I like it but I want it in a different caliber.

rhino made the sensible observation that it would make sense to see this in the LCR.
