If he is in The Fort, there is ZX on Coliseum Blvd.

BTW- I am still waiting on my RDB I 'bought' online but have yet to be charged for on my Debit card from RKguns.com

I've bought a couple of guns from RK off the shelf.

Appreciate all of the stories - the escort out the door is goofy. Never bought one in Bloomington, but have heard they require a case for leaving the store - doubly goofy. I will tolerate the no-dry-fire rule if the price is killer, because if I'm there to buy, I already know what I want. Tried to buy online once, but when they wanted to add a shipping charge (from a retailer to their own store!) - I declined. And I would NEVER take delivery of a gun without being able to examine it first - that's a deal breaker and just plain stupid.

No more RK gun purchases for me.

There are other threads that I don't have bookmarked about the stores requiring cases being due to proximity to a school or other GFZ. less of a legal requirement than a placate the neighbors thing.

Well just to wrap this up, the drama is over. After nearly 11 weeks of waiting for RK to determine that the gun was in fact in stock, they could not get the warehouse to ship it, so I cancelled the order. Just so all of you know, this is following nearly 4 very patient calls to their customer service and giving them every chance to fix this. I must say that their customer service folks were very nice and helpful, but as a company they are completely incompetent. And yes I normally by from ZX guns or Wrigley's in the Fort. I just wanted to give them a chance as their prices seemed great, but if i can't get what i want, what is the purpose? Done with them, never again. So good luck all of you who buy from RK, I hate to say this, but they have lost a customer forever.

Rural King was never on my radar, but somehow I stumbled onto a flyer: I assume from an email ad.
I enjoyed looking at their gun ads, but since I don't buy new 95% of the time, it was just an educational venture like checking Armslist and Classifieds here daily.
Then, a S/W M/P Compact 22 that I'd researched and decided to buy (and for weeks nothing used came up) was on sale for $300.
I immediately tried to buy it online, but there was some issue (probably my fault) and I was unable.
If I remember correctly, I couldn't get the Greenwood, IN store to come up as a place to send it to (for $10). :ugh:
I went to the store (where they had 2) and picked one up. I called at 7:30 on a Sunday mornining and couldn't believe they were open so early on a Sunday am.
Since then I have seen a couple of other guns advertised for prices that got my attention and I wasn't even interested in them: a Smith 9E (not sure) for $209 and another for $269, and a Smith Shield 9mm 2.0 for $369???
Anyway, if they have something your going to get at your favorite LGS (I have two), you might wait and bide your time to see if they will put it on sale.
I am very inexperienced, only been around since May so please disregard my input if this is something everyone already knows.

Figured I'd add my experience to the thread.

Ordered my Glock 43 from their online site on Wednesday and on Friday it was at my store (Evansville) ready for pickup. I walked in and filled out my 4473 on the computer and talked to the nice woman at the counter while we waited. She let me look at the gun and made sure everything was in the box and satisfactory. There was a zip tie through the slide so no dry firing allowed. After I got my approval I waited for a manager to walk me to the door of the store. Not exactly a LGS welcoming type of atmosphere but nice people who arnt afraid of your guns, just have corporate policies to uphold.

Combined with their sales and good stock, nothing about this experience makes me think I wont be back for more.

Same thing i went through at the store off 24 in Fort Wayne. I bought a ruger sr22 on a sunday evening from rkguns.com. it was there on wednesday and i got a call on thursday. I went in around 6pm and they were swamped. Pretty much the same deal...filled out the 4473 on the computer and same procedure.

    No complaints here

I've not purchased from RKGun or from RK directly but I wanted to put some perspective in this thread.

Remember back when, when you could walk into a K-Mart, a Target or any number of big box stores and purchase guns and ammo. Yeah me too. Given the current climate, I try to support RK and similar stores.

I would call into the store manager and maybe corporate to let them know of your experience and maybe they can enlighten their local stores on the proper procedures and maybe your voice will be heard.
