Agreed. Sadly. I wonder how this compares to a G26. I've been pondering a pocket gun for a good while but I don't want anything larger than a LC9 or PF9. Have to wait and see still I suppose.

Hence the, hint, hint Glock. I don't understand how they havent with all the complaints across the internet and still haven't done anything! Wishful thinking. :( Oh well, loving my switch to the M&P family anyways!

I don't either. As much as I am a Glock guy and like the system, I see no real innovation going on, lots of company issues (leadership/financial & Glock family), and uncharacteristic issues with reliability in some runs of guns as of late.

S&W seems to be the company that could take a real run at cutting into the market share held by Glock.

    Yup, agreed 100%

Shooter is right though, the slightly smaller size of the pm9 makes a big difference and they really are two different markets. Still pissed at my old pm9 from the million lb slide closing on my finger while cleaning! :)

If they get enough requests, M&P may introduce a pocket pistol. :dunno:

M&P aready has the Bodyguard 380. Its nice, and I dont know why it didnt get this fanfare. I agree the Shield is what people want, and I want one some day maybe. And Glock is going by the wayside here.

What I dont understand is Kahr. Where do they get off charging what they do? This will absolutely kill Kahr. I know some people who are rich dont care about cost, but for the rest of us, we'd never buy a gun that cost as much as two guns.

    :dunno:

The Kahr CM series is priced right in there with the Shield and even cheaper depending on the caliber.

I know some of the other series/models of Kahr are more, but these seem to be comparable to me (?)

What can I say gift cards financed my Kahr purchase. I still need to check out the shield before my kahr hits the classifieds.

I bought my pm9 for $400 here on ingo. With a raven bikini holster it's a great pocket gun if i'm selective in which pants / shorts i wear. If it were just a little bigger i would not consider pocket carry.

I got to handle the Shield yesterday at Bradis. What you would expect from the M&P line, great quality, ergonomics felt great. I carry a G26 and a CM9, so the Shield fits in the middle from a size and weight perspective.

    CM9 Shield
    L 5.42" 6.1"
    H 4.0" 4.6"
    W .9" .95"
    We 14 - 15.9 19 oz

For me, despite how much I like the M&P line, I just don't see me giving up my CM9 just yet, unless I just go bigger altogether with my carry pieces with the 9c and Shield vs G26 and CM9. I am getting a little annoyed that Glock is so far behind in this space. I think S&W is going to have a winner in the Shield.

    *sigh*

This new one, the Beretta Nano, Bersa BP, and, of course, the Kahr CW or P-9

Just buy one! It's only money! :D

Despite my own experience with the M&P line, I'd actually like to give them another try. The Shield may just be the one....

I'm really not sure why they decided to put a safety on this model. You have a line of guns with no external safety and then all the sudden everything has one. Why mess with what you've been doing.

As far as I know, external safety is an option on all M&Ps.
