Of note is the fact that Elliot Rodger killed as many with a knife as he did with a gun. Any cries for knife control? Any mention of the type of knife? Assault knife by chance?

"Obviously, not every kind of gun violence is going to be prevented by laws out of Washington," he said. "But at least we can make a start and I am going to urge that we bring back those bills, maybe reconfigure them, centre on mental health, which is a point where we can agree that we need more resources to make the country healthier and to make sure that these kinds of horrific, insane, mad occurrences are stopped.
"And the Congress will be complicit if we fail in that," he said.

Yes Senator. We're on the right track. Another law or ten and we'll get it right.

But, why don't you care about the stabbing victims? Were their deaths not as important?

California has the most bestest gun laws in the country, yet they didn't stop the tragedy. So, obviously the answer is more gun laws.
The Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence ranks California as the state with the strongest gun control measures, requiring background checks for all firearms sales, regardless of the type of gun or where it was purchased.

I am convinced that this is a prime example of why gun/knife laws do not work. This guy had made up his mind that he was going to kill a lot of people of the type that had wronged him. If guns and knives did not exist, he would have found another way including running his car into a crowd. No amount of legislation will stop that.

Seems like a better angle would be to focus on ways people could better defend themselves...

So he thinks that a law will stop a lunatic hell bent on making society pay for his own failures. Guns didn't cause that. How about this law: make parents legally responsible for the monsters they create. Of course that's absurd to think a law like that would prevent it, but it's no more absurd than thinking gun laws can prevent it either.

It's the NKA's fault. They keep lobbying congress to let shrimp dick knife nuts have all these assault knives. They should all be stabbed.

You just can't let a good tragedy go to waste, can you senator? The leap I saw many make in the aftermath of this event from blood dripped tragedy to NRA blaming would have been comical if it weren't so sad.

Never let a good corpse go to waste. Or some such they say, right, Rahm-bo Dead Fish Emanuel? Why wait until the victims of knife murder and automobile murder are in the ground or at least room temperature before conflating 4/7 of this mad *pansy's victims with the murder weapon he used to dispatch 3/7 of them?

(*)He's not a man. He's a pansy whining about still being a virgin at 22. Boo, hoo, hoo!

From what I understand this guy made it very clear what he was going to do !! Video's, email, phone calls, and Police at his door and they still could not stop this guy !!! I am sure a few more laws taking the right of self defense away from law abiding citizens will help. If these idiots would figure out it is our right and responsibility to protect our self and our family's this kind of crap would stop !!!

Actually he Stabbed 3 people, shot 2 people, and ran the last one over, so he actually killed more people with a knife than he did with a gun.
And all 3 of the handguns he had all had CA Approved 10round magazines for them. (So "High-Capacity" isn't to blame either)

Matt did a nice piece on it.

Semi-autos may be effectively banned in CA by the end of the year anyway. As I've told a few friends out that way....get the hell out and join us in Indiana. Or at least get to Nevada.

Perhaps if there are big red flags the doctors put them in a hospital till they are rehabbed, yet people would moan about their rights and mental feelings being trampled.

Trying to blame an organization like the NRA s ludicrous. The lack of PERSONAL responsibility in our society is disgusting. All these libs that are blaming guns and the NRA should be blaming the CRIMINAL that perpetrated these acts of violence.

Gee, a DemocRAT Senator exploiting a serious tragedy to perpetrate his own b.s. political agenda. Quelle surprise!

Even more ironic, Blumenthal 'says' he wants to "emphasise [sic] the mental condition of potential gun buyers". Immensely laughable, as it's the Democrats that have rabidly refused to allow mental health records to be accessed and utilized for firearms background checks, repeatedly 'citing' privacy violations in doing so!

So, he exploits yet another tragedy, cites inclusion of expanded mental health background checks while simultaneously rabidly refusing to allow access to mental health records to make those background checks. Blumenthal manages to be a double-hypocrite, FTW! :lmfao:

All these libs that are blaming guns and the NRA should be blaming the CRIMINAL that perpetrated these acts of violence.
Democrats CAN'T do that in this case (CA shooting) 'cause that murderous scumbag Elliot Rodger was most likely a DemocRAT.
