Im not a Sig guy as far as models, etc...but owners I know and ones Ive shot are excellent.

But I think you need to be more specific in what youre looking for....or use the search button.

I have a C3 1911, p938, p226, p226 elite and a Mosquito. I wouldn't trade my Sigs for anything, but to give you advice I need some specifics of what you friend is looking for.

I've owned a P6 and currently have a P238 and full size Scorpion 1911. I don't know exactly what info you are looking for but can simply say that the ones I've owned have been fantastic guns. The quality has been top notch on all of them for production guns.

i have 3, a 239, a 226,and a 220(european with the heel release) and hope to get more, id love a 220 scoripon, and for the quality, and reliability, second to none! sure there are other handgun makers...but who cares

so lets guve you and your friend a quick breakdown of the ones i own

p239 single stack in 9mm 7 in the mag, 1 in the bbl, mine is blue, i got it in the early 90's, its american made, and never had a jam, i bought it used for 450.00 with 2 mang, box and paperwork

p226 double stack 9mm 15 in the mag 1 in the bbl, mine is blue got it two years ago, its german made in 1988, never had a jam, like new, with box and paperwork, test target and 2 mags paid 599.99 never had a jam

browning bda 45, its a euorpean sig 220 imported by browning, with browning on the grip and one side of the slide, and sig sauer on the other, i got it about a year ago for a steal(no its not stolen but i offered him all that i had, he didnt have to take it!) it had one mag, and no box or paperwork, i have since bought two older model sig 220 mags(7 rounds, the 8 round mags wont work because its a heel release) that one was made in 1977 and looks like new, never had a jam

now, sig makes a great gun, BUT its fine german engineering, and you pay for it, sig makes some of the best and most expensive hadguns on the market!

the one i want the most is a 220 scorpion, its msrp is about 1350.00(whittakers had some for 900 around christmas) its a 220 in desert tan, with hogue g mascus grips, night sights, and ive seen some sig master series guns on gunbroker for up to 5grand (yes 5000.00 dollars)

now their poly framed guns(250,290 the 320, and the 2022) are cheaper, well cause they are plastic, and that puts the msrp in line with the m&p's and the glocks, now i have no experiance with them other than a few shots with a p290 in 40 s&w, just to make sure it was shooter, or ammo issue (no jams for me, but it did for him)

so where should you friend start,
first, budget, is he wanting to spend 500.00 on a poly frame gun, or 1000.00 on a aluminum frame
second, caliber (i like the 9mm, its cheaper and there seems to be more on the shelvs)
third, size, is he wanting a carry size p239 or p290, or is he ok with something bigger like the 226 or the 2022

hope this helps you some, but be careful, sig's are addictive!

He keeps telling me he wants to try a glock and a sig. So something in the G19 price range is my guess.
I have Glocks and Rugers, I just don't know anything about Sig's.
    Thanks for the info.

You can find P6's and used P225's in the $500 range pretty easily. I carried a P6 for a few years, very sweet shooting gun, especially being that it is over 30 years old.

I have four Sigs. All have been 100% reliable. I learned the hard way. I bought a Keltec P3AT and traded for a as& W Bodyguard. I upgraded it for a P238. I was hooked got rid of my M&P and got a Sig P239. Traded my Kimber and got a Sig 1911 Traditional two tone. I just picked up a P226 MK Navy. I. Wish I would have realized Sig quality 30 years ago.

I just picked up a P238, which is the first Sig I've ever owned. I haven't been to the range with it yet, but the fit, finish, and feel are excellent. The trigger is heavy but crisp.

A Sig P6 is a pretty cheap entry point into the world of SIG. I had one, liked it a lot but did not like the capacity for that size pistol. If was a big gun for only 8 or 9 rounds of 9mm. It did introduce me to Sig quality though with others following and probably more in the future.
