I have four Sigs. All have been 100% reliable. I learned the hard way. I bought a Keltec P3AT and traded for a as& W Bodyguard. I upgraded it for a P238. I was hooked got rid of my M&P and got a Sig P239. Traded my Kimber and got a Sig 1911 Traditional two tone. I just picked up a P226 MK Navy. I. Wish I would have realized Sig quality 30 years ago.

I haven't warmed to Sigs just yet (I fear it'$ going to happen), but think the 239 is a beautiful pistol, just love the curves on it. I've seen one in 2-tone recently... Any comments on the P229, by chance? I like the size of the 229... just a bit smaller than the 226, with a bit more capacity than the 239.

I've EDC'd a .40 229 for about 15 years. Yes it's heavier than a polymer and no, it's not something you put in a pocket or purse. The 10rnd mag(s) should be supplemented immediately, I do enjoy the 14+1 capacity with extended mags. Bigger holes AND more of them? What's not to like?

I won't go into the reliability, ease of use or it's penchant for eating ANY ammo you feed it since Sig's quality has been covered by others already.

Sigs are a bit chunky, But the 226 is close to the size of a full size Glock, 229 is close to the same size as a G19, and the Sig SP2022 is always a good choice for a beginner Sig Sauer enthusiast. (trust me, youll like em!)

I have a 2022, very nice and can be found under the price of a Glock. Look up some reviews on it, very underrated...

    +2022.

However, the first advice to follow before deciding on which gun to buy, especially if unfamiliar with them, is to shoot them. No sense in spendin $500+ on a gun you will hate.

That said, there are not many direct comparisons between the Glock and Sig lines. They are very different. If cost is a concern and they have a preference for the polymers, he really needs to try the 2022. I have owned Glocks and think they are excellent and reliable combat pistols but the 2022 is a whole other animal.

There is even one for sale in the Handgun classified for $400....(not mine).

I'm currently @ 6 Sigs now. I took a break from them a while back to try others(i.e. HK, CZ, Glock, 1911s), but I found myself gravitating back to the Sigs. I have 3x 228s, 229 40/357, 239 40/357, and 226 9. I EDC a 229 357 pretty much 95% of the time. The controls just seem natural to me and for some reason I just plain shoot them the best. The DA is really the only hangup/gripe I have, but the SA can't be touch IMHO. The 2022s seem like a really good bargain and I will probably pick one up just to check them out. If you are searching for a Sig, I would suggest the CPO route. They seem to be drying up though and I was lucky enough to snag the P228 on here especially when a 228 pops out. They don't make them anymore and are getting tougher and tougher to find. Nothing beats a good 'ole German-made Sig! YMMV. :ingo:

I have now dipped lightly into the world of Sigs with an SP2022 Nitron TB in 9mm. Just picked this up in a trade today (previous owner says it is NUIB, which appears to be the case), and so far I must say I'm really impressed... fits my hand crazy good, I really like the grip texture, and everything about it is there for a purpose. Under the hood, it's one of the beefier polymer pistols I've seen. Trigger is completely on-par with my CZ 75 P-01, with a smoother/lighter DA pull and a slightly lighter SA pull. Haven't had a chance to do much with it except break it down, clean & lube it, and run some snap caps through it... can't wait to get it to the range!!

Yikes... the spare mags are kind of pricey, but they feel just as stout as the gun itself.

Sorry for the crummy cell phone pic, but what good is a "new gun" post without some porn?

I have a 239 and a 229 both are in 40 S&W and are very accurate. The 229 has a larger more rounded grip while the 239 feels more flat. The srt (short reset trigger) is a great improvement.

I would like to have a sig but talking to some people and gun shop owners they will not fit 1911 holsters, and some don't like it's not a 1911 design, to me it's fine
