So, I was helping my husband put up a tree stand yesterday...

i think the university of mich. developed the process for growing morrells a few years ago. we can ,if you can afford to, buy them at MARSH mkts. but it's a heavy toll.

PS I don't eat mushrooms, either with or without a botanist's positive identification. I'm still remembering the time just a few years ago when I fell for the "it tastes just like a hamburger" lie about those big portabello mushrooms when they are grilled. It's not true. Not even close!

But you do like hamburgers... as proven by photos from Bub's.... One of these days, I need to get over there and take the challenge...

You know, "ugly vs. ugly". :D

    Blessings,
    Bill

Wifey and I found one while turkey hunting thursday. It was the first one I had ever seen in the wild and I am 35. I was gonna say the first one I have found but she found it.

The "false morels" are easy to distinguish from the real ones.

    Exactly.

Nice shooting. How many shots did it take to bag that many? I have not been hunting those delicious morsels for some time now. The Peabody Coal Company took my woods away many years ago.

Thank you for sharing. They are super eating. Enjoy!

Went out on wednesday but only found a small handful. Still too cold up here in the frozen north I guess. Soon though.

Jeez, who ever heard of being skeerd of a little fungus?
    Clowns...........well, I'm just sayin'.:D

They do grow, even in gravel
    They don't just pop up,
This one is at least 3 weeks old,
When my wife first found it, it was the size of a thimble,
She has even watered this one when it looked to be drying up a bit.
I hope the picture, doesn't skeer anybody!;)
