8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Exodus 20:8
Throughout our lifetime we are taught important dates in order to caution us to be vigilant about the importance of them. Remember the Maine, remember the Lusitania, remember the Alamo, remember Pearl Harbor, remember September 11, 2001, and as we go on into the future there will be other dates that live in infamy as President Roosevelt said about the attack on Pearl Harbor that happened on December 7, 1941.
God cautioned the Jews to remember the Sabbath Day and to keep it forever holy. In our time we do not observe the Sabbath Day but we do observe Resurrection Day every Sunday, the first day of every week. What is so sad in our time is that most people don't.
The importance of the First Day of the week is that it is the day our Lord was risen.
He came forth from the tomb on this day and on this day we are called upon to remember that most momentous event in all of human history and to honor it and to praise God for it. Why? Because as Paul said: "19 If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable. 20 But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the first fruits of them that slept. 21 For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. 22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive." (I Corinthians 15:19-20) Have a very happy Memorial Day but never forget what price has been paid that we might have it to celebrate.
God bless and go and have a great day.
