    East Chicago
I've been living in East Chicago for my entire life (20 years) and from my experience people hate us or dislike us because of the politics and the politicians (who I cannot stand and I believe they are all liars, thieves and crooks who only think about themselves and their friends), the crime and gangs, which gives everyone a bad name. People think that if you are from East Chicago or Gary you are a bad person which is not the case. Yes there are some bad people put here but there are bad people everywhere and its not right to group everyone together with those people. When I talk to people and they find out that I'm from East Chicago they think I'm a gangbanger, drug dealer or a criminal. Its insulting to me when people think that about me and everyone from the area. I for one am proud to be from here and I wouldn't change it for anything.

See Pete Visclosky who is supporting a large magazine and assault weapon ban for starters. Who elected this a-hole?

The unproductive, welfare lifestyle wards of the state that voted for the arrogant kenyan who is dishonoring our White House and trampling our Constitution in his bent to destroy America. That's who.

Pete and BO need to go. I'll personally pay for the Airline tickets if they can never come back.

You don't think the people from central and southern Illinois who were represented by Durbin and Obama didn't feel the same way?

Surely you guys can't all think that we voted for d-bags like Visclosky.

So why does the rest of Indiana hate us so much?
I'm a Chicago boy transplanted out here 5 years ago and never even new nwi was called the region till I did my time at ILEA 2 years ago.

    So why the hate?

I grew up in Rensselaer, Indiana and I've said for years "On I-65, once you pass US 30 it's all Chicago to me...". :D

Huh I didn't know you guys hated us, oh well, fluck-off, LOL.
I spent more years living in Chicago, south-side than in Indiana. The good people are similiar on either side of the line, so are the bad ones.

When someone asks me where I live, I usually say northwest Indiana, near Chicago, so they have a geographical reference.

Using CST makes sense to me because more traffic goes to the city than away from it, if you live where we do.

I would be perfectly happy to let "The Region" be annexed by Chicago, where their corrupt loyalties lie, and we would take southern Illinois in trade. The good folks in southern Illinois would escape the jackboots of the Chicago political machine and we would rid ourselves of the corruption of NWI. Sounds like win-win to me.

This is, for the most part, one of the best ideas i have heard in a long time.

The armpit of Indiana is what I call it. Honestly, I don't care for Indiana at all and would prefer to move back up north to Michigan if the job market didn't suck so bad up there. I'm a Yooper and proud of it! :rockwoot:

Besides the job situation is the Sillinoise style socialism in MI. The two biggest reasons that keep me living my life as a hoosier. I really dont see anything changing up there either. Too many leeches and union scum...but i am being redundant.

What part of Dah Yooper you from?

REAL Michiganders don't care about football. It's all about the HOCKEY!! :)

OH, we love football, (SPARTAN football) AND hockey (SPARTAN and RED WINGS HOCKEY). I know as i was born and raised in the great Canadian province of MI!

    You are the reason, OP.

I moved to the region from the south-side in '05. I still work there. As far as I'm concerned Chicago can fall into Lake Michigan. I hope all the R's in IL smarten up and move to NWI before all the D's from IL move here. Nobody in IL can believe what I pay in taxes, and we know the D's don't like it when they have to pay the taxes that they voted for. My parents are planning their escape soon.

I was born in morgan township and now live in kouts but work in "The Region". People hate us because it does suck up there and it is politically aligned with Chicago. However I live south of 30 so for the most part I am free from those creatures ;)

It's just an unpleasant place to be. Every time I go to Bass Pro or Cabelas I just shake my head and plug my nose. MW Indiana even has it's own color. Reminds me of all those pale colored post-apocolypse movies you see. Must be from all the pollution dumped into the air, ground and water from the steel mills all those years.

Different accents, and no love for the Colts - the team from their own state.

Seriously though, I spent 18 months up in La Porte (not technically the region, but close enough) with the Navy as a recruiter many years ago. Good people up there, even though I'd get asked if I was from the south because I had a 'twang'. The south being, Kokomo.

Rensselaer native here! My whole family is from Rensselaer. Unfortunately, my dad's job brought us to Indy (Avon) when I was about 12. I still have family there though.

I still get up to Rensselaer frequently, and have family and property up there still.

I hate NWI... I live here because the wife and I work across the border... If we could make the same money in Southern Indiana we would move in a heartbeat, but same job pays about 50% of my scale...
