That's very interesting. I remembered your recommending the guy in another thread a while back.

    Vaccine >>> stroke? Hmmm....

It is the first time I have heard a reference to energy drinks and stroke also. :dunno:
My son in law age 20 had a serious heart scare and the doctor told him the same thing, he was a regular consumer of energy drinks and had chugged one at work. He saw a heart specialist who told him that energy drinks are associated with strokes and heart attacks (take that for what it is)

Friend of mine had a heart attack at 27 from energy drinks. He's since slowed down a bit.
Had a cousin who had the same at a young age from caffeine drinks and such. He was an overnight truck driver up to that point.

Switched careers afterwards so he could have a normal day shift. He was in his 20s at the time

I'm trying to get from nights to days. Some of my coworkers are 2-3 energy drinks a shift but when we aren't driving we're moving as fast as possible. In twenty years we'll be the ones calling the 800 numbers on television "if you or a loved one overindulged in energy drinks you may be eligible for compensation."

I think it is a crime that energy drinks are treated like soft drinks. People think they are safe. My cousin has a pacemaker due to consuming too many of them.
Not sure I didnt think about this story back when this was first posted.

When I was an active skydiver, Red Bull had just come out and other energy drinks were taking off. Red Bull and vodka was the new thing. The RB would counter the effects of the vodka and you could party all night. They'd drink 3/4 of the can, top it off with several shots of vodka, then finish it.

One of the hardest partiers (he was a raging alcoholic that is now sober. We all thought he'd be dead by now. That was 15 years ago. ) was REALLY into that drink. So on weekends a lot of us that had to drive a bit would bring a tent and camp out all weekend behind the hangar. We would show up after work Friday, make a jump or two, then if we were an instructor we would work all weekend and party Fri/Sat, then go home Sunday after sunset. Those were the days...

So one friday it was an exceptionally wild party. Its 9am Saturday and we are all up getting ready for the students to start showing up. Somebody looks around and says "Anybody seen Gila? (TeGila Monster) About that time, Gila comes around the corner of the hangar in a brisk walk. You can tell he is WIRED. Dude looked like a tweaker.
    "You OK Gila?"
"No! I had 8 RB and vodka last night. I havent slept. I'm effing exhausted and cant sleep. I can barely stop moving!" The best he could do was shifting his weight back and forth on each foot. "Im gonna go shower." and he wandered off briskly.

He finally crashed around lunch time in his tent and nobody saw him until 3 on Sunday. Dude slept over 24 hours after that.

I'm happy to say that today he is sober and doing EXCELLENT at life. Got a great job as a carpenter, and makes AMAZING furniture and cabinets.
