    Sig P-220. Ergos are 1911ish, DA/SA decoker with no stupid safties to get in your way and mine is well over 1k rnds with no malfunctions of any kind with any ammo.

    Based on the choices that you're looking at, I'd go for the USP. Not sure many of today's other manufacturers can beat HK as far as quality goes, or the higher prices their weapons command.

    However, I would also recommend the Sig P-220, as it is what I carry on a daily basis. For home defense, it's more than adequate for the task, and it has advantages over the standard 1911 as kawtech pointed out. Plus, if you look around, you can find some pretty nice Certified Pre-Owned Sigs that are police trade ins. Inspected and serviced (if needed) by the armorers at Sig before being distributed to dealers, these really are a great buy for the money.
