Definitely consider the Sig P320. You only buy the fire control group once, the rest is totally modular so you can change grip sizes, calibers, and barrel lengths at will later. My fullsize 9mm has about 1,200 flawless rounds down the pipe and shoots way, way better than I do. Reasonably priced even with 3 magazines and night sights, the P320 is becoming more popular all the time with LEAs and is still in the running for the US Military's Modular Handgun System contract.

The Shadow doesn't have a firing pin block if that matters to you. You can get a sp-01, 75b, or Omega to have a VERY nice trigger and action with CGW parts and some love.

when did this start it's new to me but I love it

Yep not uncommon for people to cut down a G19 to take G26 mags. Replace the sights, drop in a quality trigger and cut the grip. With the use of a grip sleeve a person could use longer mags/grip on the range and then carry a short grip in the street. That G19 would certainly be a versatile gun.

Sig P226 or P229. I have the 226 and would like to get a P229 because it is slightly smaller for Concealed Carry. Each comes in a variety of looks also.

I'm considering the Scorpion or the Scorpion TB, the threaded barrel is nice for a suppressor if you have one or plan to get one. It's cheaper to get it with it than pay a few hundred later for a second barrel.
