    S&W 500 in 10.5 barrel

Because length doesn't matter, if you don't shoot a huge cartridge loading. Yes.

I always thought it was "length doesn't matter if you shoot a big load".

PLEASE tell me you use the old line "Excuse me while I whip this out" when you do so!!!!

I was wearing that Raging Bull in a belt holster made for such a cannon when I was hunting a farm on St Rd 26E many moons ago.
When I came out of the woods I saw a conservation officer waiting by my truck.
He wanted to see my hunting license. No problem.
After asking for my license, his first words were, "Is that a handgun?"
I said, "Yes sir, would you like to see it?"
He said no, checked my license, and left without further comment.
I think it kind of freaked him out.

Because despite what they say, a 6 inch barrel is shorter than average?

On a serious note though, how is the accuracy on one of these? It seems like the weight would be pretty prohibitive

I’m a 1911 guy and spent most of my life uninterested in wheel guns… Until I shot my Father-in-Law’s S&W 29-2 with a 8” barrel. That is the most accurate hand gun I’ve ever shot and the only time I’ve shot a ragged hole 5 shot group at 25 yards with a hand gun. I’m a believer now!

If you want a long revolver... for the show of it, and don't want to be shooting huge loads everywhere.

    Look for a S&W 647 with 12 inch barrel in 17HMR.

I think it was S&Ws ill guided attempt to out do a Ruger 22 Charger?
