Personally, I hate being recorded... and I've been recorded a lot. It's not that I dislike it because it doesnt allow me to curbstomp grandmas and get away with either.
The people that I've been recorded by do it, mostly, for the pure annoyance factor. I've been in an empty lot writing reports and someone pulls out a video camera. I've been eating lunch in my car, and someone pulls out a camera. I've had cars pull onto side roads so that they could film traffic stops.
In the most recent example, I helped arrest a guy whole stole a Range Rover outside a club. The club empties out and one would swear they were paparazzi.
I've actually come to expect it in certain instances. It's understandable if you are related to the instance in some way. A guy who sets up a voice recorder or camera on his dash, no real issue... but the people that gawk? I can't stand them. I've always found nosy people distasteful. Mind you own damn business.

Even though I have my opinion, I know that there not anything, for the most part, that I can do about people that purposefully try to get a reaction. So I typically just ignore them. And if someone has recorded me for 15 minutes during an arrest, don't come knocking on my window and ask what happened.

Maybe when his daughter gets in an accident, and some douchbag decides to run up and take pictures of her laid out on the hood while standing on her severed arm he won't mind seeing her bloated corpse on Facebook.

You don't have to produce ID if you don't have it.

Also, note this is not IC 35 (criminal code) and refers to an infraction or ordinance violation (i.e., a civil offense). The officer was charging him with misdemeanor (i.e., criminal offense) interference. I have not been able to find a comparable statute that corresponds to criminal charges.

Officer Krupke, what infraction or ordinance was the perp violating?

So it appears the officer may have gotten it wrong on two, er, counts.

If he were in the street where a sidewalk is provided is one.

I got sidetracked being hateful on other threads, jk.... Ooooh, I was tagged in the "tags" for this thread.... Yayyyy!!!!

Sorry guys that posted three pages since my last post. I wasnt aware that HCSD deputies were buying the clip on cams, been a while since Ive talked to one of em. Ooopsies.

Fear of injury while being "videotaped" is an issue for LEOs, as previously stated (and agreed upon by other posters).

Considering the guy tagged the officer on facebook, thats not going to look good (and hopefully the judge rules that he was out of line and he is adjudicated).

Im all for personal freedoms, until they become a nuisance or infringe upon the rights of myself or others (just because you can be an *** doesnt mean you need to be one).

He must not be an INGO member, otherwise he would have peddled as fast as he could, bypassing the Free Speech Zone, back to the safety and comfort of mommy's basement where he could post the details of his harrowing ordeal.
Oh there you are SemperFi. I knew you would respond. I guess you aren't interested in the truce I publicly offered. Let's keep up the bickering and retarded personal attacks then.

Naw, I'm all about a truce. It just reminded me of a story I heard once.

The officer didn't warn or cite him for any infraction, however. He seemed to be on his bike, so I'm guessing the street would be okay. NOW, maybe the officer was concerned about him riding his bike on the sidewalk. I can see jailing him for that.:dunno:

I haven't read all of this garbage yet, but as for interest from a publishing company? KNOCK ME OVER WITH A FEATHER!:):

Garbage? I consider it to be a salt block but for trolls... seems to be workin so far... Bringin in fools left and right. As far as publishing companies... Maybe McGraw Hill, they seem to publish a lot of nonsense and misdirected "history"...

Can I substitute that for a copy of the book? :D

I find it rather difficult to make a judgement based solely on the 1m 37s video of the climatic ending.

The guy on the bike could have spent the last 10 - 15 minutes provoking the situation by doing things illegal and ignoring warnings.

    or

The cop could be a JBT who is conditioned to attack people with cameras. :twocents:

most people are making the judgement after several thousand isolated incidents. but do not let the facts get in your way carry on.

Out of the literal 100's of millions of police calls every year? And the over 600,000 cops out there. Wow As I said before you were not there and neither was anyone else on here. So go ahead and keep acting like you really know everything that went down. Oh one more thing keep relying on the media to actually be completely honest and not slant the story or video.

Yep ONLY 600,000 cops. That makes their percentage of bad guys in their own ranks higher than those that are just lowly citizens.

I do know Off. Stevens. For about 30 yrs. He can be a P.I.T.A. .

In Gunweek, there was a article about a ruling by an Appeals Court stating
that it is legal to film ( or video ) a police officer in public.

I hope RPD gets blasted with a lawsuit on this.

The percentage is VERY dependent on department and on the other side it is VERY dependent on neighborhood.

not to mention, all the stories you see posted from "copssuck.com" from a person who was arrested POV without any follow up to get the real story.

People accept the arrested persons story as fact. There are still people that think Jerry Piland beat brandon johnson. THere are still people that believe David Olofson wasn't making and selling full auto ar15's.

I suggest we all wait and see what the courts say, and weigh the evidence produced by both parties, then make an informed decision.
