I got my stuff unpacked and put in order. Somewhere in my mess are the rivets that still needed pressed. I pressed the front trunnion rivets buy hand. That Toth Tool jaw setup is the bomb. I had a rivet set for the Rommy so I stole a few & managed to send one flying :-( I am going to order a few extra sets. NP. If my back will let me I will press in the barrel tomorrow.

When you guys left yesterday we managed to get SHS's barrels head spaced. I think the Toth tool does great for the fine tuning. I guess the one was jumping past the mark when you were pressing it? The second barrel was in to far. Go gauge wouldn't go. I wasn't sure how we were going to do it with out the press. I managed to get my brass hammer on the edge of the barrel (inside) and use a little persuasion with a BFH and moved it out enough to get the "go" in then nudged it with the Toth barrel pusher to get the "no go" setting just right. I thinK the one barrel could have benefited from a slight polish. I did not want to remove the barrel to mic it and the trunnion. Next one that's hard to space we can if you guys want. I have the stuff with me. I want to scope out that press setup next time. It worked slick.

I sure learned a lot. That was the main goal. I will be a lot more helpful next time around. I now can clean up trunnions and trigger gaurds! I learn how to drill the front and rear trunnions. Even replaced a gas piston! Then add head spacing to the mix and I am getting the real world experience.

Populating the barrel is the next thing to learn. I have gas port and Gas block sight pins to drill. I have been watching Youtube video's. Getting the sight and gas block square is the hardest part. I think I can jig something up with the mill using the DRO to help. I have 2 to do. Any tips would be handy!

Next build I want to get my polish underfolder done and I WILL be buying a ak74 kit to build as well. I've been looking for a already built side folding (integrated) 74 but even though I've heard stories Of all these people dumping their ak74's I've found none used that people don't wanna sell for too high anyways, so maybe I'll just build one.

Yeah, my build needs about 15 minutes to finish.

Anyone have an AK47 style rear trunion they can let me get? Yes, I know a 74 will work just as well. Not what I want nor what my reciever was predrilled to use is the problem. IF you have a 47 rear trunion block, please PM m e with what you want for it or I can trade a 74 block of some other part for it if I have what you seek.

Gary, AK builder has them for $30. I have the same issue and need 2 of them. I know a vendor that will have them at Knob creek machine gun shoot mid October but you might not want to wait. Good luck

I no longer go to Knob Creek, to much of a mosh pit these days. Last I looked, last night, Curtis had 74 but not 47 rear blocks but I will look again.

How about a very good to new condition Bulgarian AK74 parts kit? $260 (wood stock) or $275 (plum polymer stock) with bayonet. You have to get a new barrel though. Im considering one of these kits. RGUNS - Gun Parts - Rifle Parts - AK Parts

It looks like I need to find the piece's for my Bulgy AK74 and maybe make a project out of that at the next party. I need a trigger guard, barrel and gas tube. Well plus the rest of the compliance parts. If any one has spares parts I need I'd love a chance to buy them? might help to off set parts you need for something. I'd rather keep the funds in the community if I can.

I took a break today. I had hopes of doing a bit more but my back is 100% screwed! :( Going to take a day or so off then I am going to drill the receivers and press the rivets I can. I need a couple rivet sets. Time for a AK builder order.

Are the 74 and 47 trigger guards the same?

Trigg, you said you though you had a Rommy Stock? If so I'll hook up with you on it. And if you have a Bulgy stock to swap for that trench art stock it's your's.

    apexgunparts.com has what you need.

someone who knows what they are doing can look at some cosmetic features on some specific trigger guards and tell what they fit, but otherwise they are interchangable.

I'm game! Looking at kits for another one. Just missed out on a cheap kit for $155 by minutes last night! Looking at a press from Home Depot as well. Let's get a fall date, say around Halloween? What say you all?

I think I am going to do a under or side folder. I might look at what I need to turn the Rommy in to one! I need a but stock anyway. I know I need a different trunnion. I don't know how the latch part works. (yet) Anyone got pics?

All the trigger guards are the same, 74, 47 or from country to country. I got my trunion too so thanks for that...

I have another kit and would go to another build party for sure...

Hey! We may not have to wait for another build party. Im buying the riveting tools and replacing my stolen press so we might just have to have our own mini Terre Haute build party! :rockwoot: Im betting you are in for that! Ill be in Aurora, IL all next week and RGUNS is like 45 mins away from where I will be. Im considering going up there and picking out which Bulgarian AK74 parts kit that I want from them. $260 for wood furniture and $275 for polymer furniture isnt too bad.

I'd like to do another build party, either host or just attend. I'd like to build a triangle side folding ak-74 since I can't find one for sale locally even though I keep hearing people are dumping their ak-74's. I haven't seen it on ingo. Of coarse not many AK's are selling here.
