Just curious if anyone around here open carries (vs concealed carry) If so where and what kind of reactions do you get?
I thought Id like it, and I tried it a few times. I agree with it, and have seen some people pull it off well. I just don't feel comfortable with the attention.

Not often, but I have. During the winter I'll carry strong side in a paddle with a jacket covering all but the end of the barrel, but I don't really consider that open.

Open carry with out a CCW/LTCH permit is ok in Arizona as well. I did it a few times in Arizona but not in Indiana. I dont like the attention.

I keep seeing this "I don't like the attention" statement. What attention? People run up and point and scream "He's got a gun!!" at all of you non-attention seekers? Or do they run away yelling the same? Do they come up and tug on your sleeve and ask to see "it"? Follow you around whispering and pointing? What attention are you getting?

Are you sure it isn't the toilet paper still stuck to the bottom of your Keds?

That is what I was thinking, I can OC all day long and 1 out of 100 people will even notice, and that is carrying a fullsize in a paddle holster.

My buddys mom just noticed my OC the other day I've been around her several times and she about waist high to me. She stared and said "Is it real":n00b: I said it would be pretty dumb to carry a fake one. I then told her that her son was getting one. She's over protective and freaked out I then took him shooting for his birthday.:draw: Almost nobody notices.

I was in a Kohls and a guy started asking to many questions about my Glock. And others were looking and saying hes got a gun at which point i untucked my shirt to cover it up.

When i'm out and about and see someone OC I think "OK, you have a gun. Everybody knows it. I have a gun too. Nobody but me knows it." No malice. Just an observation.

I prefer CC to OC. I notice it immediately when someone is OC. I think it brings too much attention. Fine with me if you want to, but I'd rather fly under the radar.

I can't believe I have not seen this thread before. I open carry in Indiana. I have no problem at all with County and state boys. However, the city police do not support open carry no matter how legal it is. I have only ever had a few OC experences and it was pretty neutral.

I went to speed way and needed a drink and some lotto tickets. I paid for my items and then the lady behind the counter said that next time I cant bring my gun in. I just kinda giggled at her and never came back. No $$ for speedway on 19th and Margret from me.

When dealing with the local police while OC, I have found a method that works for me. About a block from the place I want to stop at, such as a gas station, I switch over to my OC CD, which consists of 2Pac - All eyes on me uncensored on permanent repeat. I then turn the volume up full blast. I role down the windows about 1/4 of an inch. It is important to mention that my windows are tinted pretty dark and a drive a 15MPG gas sucking suv. I drive into the parking lot and active the smoke machine under my seat. When the local boys ask if I have a permit for that gun, I say yes officer but my 5 bros in the SUV are holding on to it for me. They normally look at the SUV and leave.

*Edit* and if I am on a boat OC I prefer Lonely Island - I'm on a boat, uncensored.
