I guess my question would be, am I compelled give an honest answer to a CCfactory employee? I understand that it would be a really bad idea to represent yourself as law enforcement to law enforcement. Probably be a better plan to simply say "it's none of your business" or just ignore the question. Since Covid I have a real problem with anyone attempting to compel me to do anything. It's become a give em and inch and they will take a few miles, or your life world.
Yes, just ignore the question. They will call the police about an armed person in the restaurant refusing to leave, and then you can have all kinds of fun with people compelling you to do things.

Sure...then they ask to see credentials. Which any actual cop will have pinned to their shirt sleeve. Now what?

Walk out the door 5 seconds and come back with a big bulge. Let the Culinary Professionals decide if they want to have popo come strip search their customers. After a few of these awkward occurrences, they'll have an epiphany and learn how to tactfully tell red-state antigun Karens to go fork themselves. In other words grow some balls, which is precisely what they need to do.

Good on the OP:yesway: for being cool on his wife's special occasion, though. And her as well!

:lmfao: Never witnessed an off duty LEO with his credentials pinned to their sleeve. As I understand the law, CCfactory's only legal option is to ask you to leave and have you trespassed if you refuse.

Greenwood is part of Indiana and Constitutional carry is the law in Indiana, what would they be compelling me to do? Again it comes down to asking me to leave. it's actually a moot point because even though I'm only a few miles from the Mall it's off my list of go to places for several reasons. Possible interactions with Karens being one of them.

I had a very similiar situation in a Goodwill once. Not seeing signs on the door i left but it worked out well after I called corporate. Ended up with the whole store being retrained, and a gift card for my trouble.

It was documented in this thread:

Their business their rules.. If asked to leave it's no problemo.. I'll wager I could find some excellent cheesecake at some other venue. I thought you were talking about someone other than CCfactory employees when you said "all kinds of people"
Where did I say "all kinds of people?" I said...

I meant that the police would come and compel you to leave, since I apparently have to spell it out. And I'm not sure how much you'd enjoy it, given their potential feelings on an uncooperative armed individual at that particular mall.

    But hey...knock yourself out.

Daughter and son inlaw in town last weekend. Daughter and wife wanted to go to Warm Glow Candle place on 70east, near Ohio.

I had a few bites of an awesome raspberry cheese cake, and a scoop of butter pecan in a waffle cone there.

Back to the conversation at hand

Also went to Gainbridge for a concert. Got up to the metal detectors and remembered that I had my edc pocket knife clipped to my pocket.

Went out around the corner, pretended to fix my shoe while leaning on the concrete flower planter by the street. Deposited knife against the thick foliage of the plants, picked it up on the way out. Of course I wouldn’t do that with my daily carry

After some thought I think a good option might be to say, I am not a police officer, are you planning on discriminating against me because of that, if so please give me your name and I'll gladly leave?
Personally I'm not a fan of OC but Constitutional carry is the law. I'm also not an attorney but common sense tells me that allowing LEOs to be armed and refusing citizens would be discriminating against them. Maybe someone with some legal "chops" might care to comment?

Oooh that's good. I've had my carry permit for 15yrs now and have always oc. Generally just get people asking me to cover it when inside, I do that no problem. This was my first take it back to the car.

In context, the question at issue was: "The general manager came up and asked if I was an officer. I told him no."

Is there a law you have to answer the question? No.

Is there a law you have to tell him the truth? Not really...as far as that goes.

Is there a law that says you commit a felony if you answer "yes", you intend him to believe you are a LEO (which is the entire context) and that is false? Well, yeah.

I've only been to the Cheesecake Factory once and that was like 15 years ago. Is it really worth the level 6 felony?

I never OC. To me a business is like a home; their place...their rules. I never considered the thought that I have a constitutional right to enter and stay in a business. If asked to take my handgun to my vehicle, I have a permanently installed lock box in my vehicle, so no problem there. I use the vehicle lock box every time I go inside the post office or the court house. Some folks seem to go around with a chip on their shoulders. I consider that being armed, I should try to bend over backwards to avoid confrontations and take every opportunity to defuse a situation, even if it means swallowing my pride and walking away.
