calling SASS Cowboys and living history interpreters

We have a pioneer and cowboy living history event August 27 in LaGrange County. There are craft demonstrations, music, youth activities, evening square dance. We would love to have costumed cowboys, civil war folk, and other living history interpreters attend as characters in the log house...

      Turkey hunting 2016

Last Monday was my day. At sunrise I heard a great horned owl and moments later a gobble answered. At flydown he tried to head where the hens were roosted, but I called him back by alternating a box call and push button call. He took his time to cross the field to my decoys and strutted right in...

      turkey: shotgun or crossbow

I have hunted turkey for years with shotgun. I am considering using the crossbow this spring. Is there a good reason to use a bow or should I stick with shotgun? I am not interested in guesses. I would like to hear from experience that has tried both.

      EAA Bounty Hunter grips

I have a couple of EAA Bounty Hunter single actions. They shoot fine and I am thinking about dressing them up a little. Since it is basically a SAA clone, are the grips compatible with Colt SAA or Ruger Vaquero?

      1911 full size and commander

I got to wondering, if you wanted to could you keep one 1911 frame set up the way you like and change slide/barrel/spring to have a full size or commander depending upon need or mood of the day?

      2015-16 deer hunting knife....?

I have been very happy with my Elk Ridge er-107. It is inexpensive, but has a handsome burl handle. The first time I used it to dress a deer I retired my prior winchester fixed blade.

      SASS Cowboy Action lever rifle

I am doing my homework about lever rifles for Cowboy Action Shooting. I am seeing a few rifles 24 inch barrel and most 20 inch barrel. Is there any real world difference in competition? I am trying to consider a gun purchase for dual purpose and would like the rifle to serve duty as a hunting...

So, what did this winter storm teach me about my preps?

I learned during a thanksgiving camping outing years ago that a capful of wood alcohol per tank of kerosene can absorb and burn off water in the tank.

      "OFFICIAL 2013 HUNTING THREAD"

Got my second deer ever on opening Saturday. At 4:00p he wandered into view, went behind a tree long enough for me to draw, and I was waiting for him on the other side of the tree. The family is excited about venison roast for Thanksgiving.
