That's a great concept... But... The current flash hider attachments are just that... Attachments... If your flash hider (or barrel porting) has baffles built into it and has the sole purpose or "intent" of being made into a suppressor... Hunting is one of the areas where you can make a case for "need" when it comes to silencers... Most other civilian firearm uses could substitute hearing protection. Hunters have limited choices... Bingo... It says it is illegal to sell to someone if you have reasonable cause to believe that they are prohibited... Not that it is illegal to sell to someone if you haven't verified that they aren't prohibited... That's why you hear about undercover agents making comments that they are felons...- RobbLG

They were very common in the 20's... When the National Firearms Act was passed in 1934 there was an amnesty period that they could be registered tax free... But... Very few people got the word in time... I don't know how well they advertised it... Probably just tweeted it and put it on their...- RobbLG
