      My Next Deer Rifle Debate

My Traditions shoots very well with 350 gr FPBs over 100 gr BH 209, set off with regular 209 primers. Good luck with yours. People criticize Traditions guns some, but I have no complaints. Mine has accounted for plenty of deer, anywhere from 30 to just over 100 yds.

Ever see a duck in a tree?

Pairs of mallards often sit on rooftops in my subdivision. And I've seen a few ducks in trees, but they were all woodies I believe.

DEER HUNTING THE OLE FASHION WAY...

I saw the same thing happen once. Deer hit by one vehicle, sent airborn, then comes down on hood of another vehicle. No smashed in windshields with bloody people, but bad enough.

      308 reloading help...stumped

I had a similar issue with my 358 Hoosier (358 Win parent case). The shellholder I was using would not allow the case to travel far enough into the die. The press was definitely camming over. Switched to another shellholder which was slighlty different in dimension and problem solved. My guess...

      Any .303 Savage Reloaders?

Maybe the gift should be dies, primers and powder to get friends dad going?

      44 magnum reloading problem

I don't see this as a problem necessarily, assuming the sight/scope can be adjusted to get the bullet to the desired POI. Without a chrono, you can still look at the trajectory change between say 50 yds and 100 yds, and compare that to trajectory charts using known velocities. If you see...

I would like to load hornady 160 gr flextips in my 336w for 30/30

I've loaded for 30/30, but I have no experience with FTX bullets, so can't advise on seating. Hodgdon indicates a trim length of 2.030 and overall length of 2.550. Never varied from the published COAL, so I can't advise on feeding issues. I never had any feeding problems at 2.550. If you make...

      H322 in 358 Hoosier

Has anyone tried H322 in their 358 Hoosier? If so, have you shot any through a chronograph? I have limtied data supplied by AJ Brown, but I'd like to know if anyone has actually chronographed 358 Hoosier loads, and if so, did the results support the data? Any info on other powders/loads would...

Should Indiana deer hunters be allowed to use high-powered rifles.

So, it's clear that the writer does not understand the word "caliber". Caliber is bore diameter expressed in 100ths of an inch. That is all caliber means, it has nothing to do with the relative power or effective range of a gun. The guy starts out OK discussing legal cartridges, but quickly gets...

What's your 12ga slug of choice for a smooth bore shotgun?

I have the same gun, smooth bore rifle sights, and it also shot great with WW 2.75" Rifled Slugs. It shoots a 2-3" group at 50 yds no problem, and that's with open sights and my bad eyes. Only ever shot it at 2 deer, and it made quick work of them.

Help me INGO, I'm an idiot (sighting in a rifle)

A is more correct than B. 2" is too much at 20'. Heck they are probably that far apart (maybe even less) as they are now on the gun. A typical sight height for many ballistics calculators is 1.5" I'd adjust the crosshairs to be just over the laser, then shoot and adjust from there. If you want...

Glad I waited to buy this one

They were known to be good shooters too. Hopefully it will be legal for deer with factory ammo next season.

      Pre Rut action ?

I saw a young looking 8 pt pushing does this past Sunday. This weekend and next will be the best bowhunting of the season.

      Ohio hog

I'm guessing they supplement the feed as well. I shot one with a bow years ago in PA. It was a glorified pen, and the hogs were mostly feral critters trapped in Alabama. This place sounds like a better operation.

      anyone seen any rubs yet?

Saw plenty this past weekend in SW Michigan. They were mostly on sumacs.
